Went riding today to enjoy my new drummer and new pilot powers on my firebolt. I had a spirited ride but nothing in the triple digits. On my way back I noticed the left side of the frame was sticky. When I looked down I saw the outer portion of the frame puck was gone. The piece of styrophome and adhesive backing of the puck is still there. This is on the factory pucks that came on the bike.I've had pucks on my lightning for 6 years with no problem. I was curious if anyone else ever had this happen. Bike is still under warranty and I would like to have it replaced that way if I could as I am that broke or maybe I can find someone that has just a left side puck.} |

It does seem that the pucks don't stay on as well with the 09+ Phantom Metallic frames. Either way, be glad its not an unobtanium Uly puck. |

froggy is right at least it is a short frame bike so you can still buy the frame pucks. If you was on a long frame bike you would be screwed. |

Yeah the sad part is I was thinking while riding that I would like to order a few spare set for both my bikes. The puck is still Technically attached. Its the out layer that is gone. I will post a pic later. |

I meant to add that the bike has never been dropped or rubbed against anything. |

I saw that on a bike around here before, Dunno the story behind it but I saw the same exact thing on one(a white n blue 12r) parked in a parking lot so I guess you're not the ONLY one lol (Message edited by buelltroll on October 08, 2010) |

Do the newer bikes come stock with the pucks? I had to buy the pucks separately so if I lost one it wouldn't be any kind of warranty issue. Now I'm going to be paranoid about mine. |

Yes newer ones have them from the factory. My 04 lightning I had to install myself |

The foam will not give any significant protection without the plastic on the outside unless it is a simple tip over in a parking lot. |

The puck is best for abrasion resistance anyway, low side yes but my crash dented the frame THROUGH the puck. It's funny though because the puck didn't even look that damaged. |
