Brankin,
Sweet place! Looks like we've got to have a driveway making party!

That place is a gearhead/engineer's dream!

Surfs Up... Stay safe and dry everyone..

WASHINGTON, Sept. 1 (UPI) -- President Barack Obama Wednesday declared an emergency exists in North Carolina because of the approach of Hurricane Earl, the White House said.

The president ordered federal aid to supplement state and local responses to the coming storm.

Forecasters at the National Hurricane Center in Miami said late Wednesday Earl was a large and dangerous storm that threatened the U.S. Mid-Atlantic, with watches and warnings extended northward. At 11 p.m. EDT, forecasters said Earl was "a little stronger," with top sustained winds of 140 mph and much higher gusts.

The Category 4 storm was about 520 miles south-southeast of Cape Hatteras, N.C., and was moving toward the north-northwest at 18 mph.

Earl was expected to turn toward the north Thursday and the storm was expected to approach the North Carolina coast by late Thursday and travel to the outer banks of North Carolina Thursday night.

The emergency declaration authorizes the Federal Emergency Management Agency to coordinate all disaster relief efforts intended to alleviate "the hardship and suffering caused by the emergency on the local population, and to provide appropriate assistance for required emergency measures, authorized under Title V of the Stafford Act, to save lives and to protect property and public health and safety, and to lessen or avert the threat of a catastrophe in Beaufort, Bertie, Camden, Chowan, Columbus, Craven, Currituck, Dare, Gates, Hyde, New Hanover, Onslow, Pamlico, Pasquotank, Perquimans, Pitt, Tyrrell, and Washington Counties."

I used to go through it periodically with my folks' house in Texas. They had pre- made window covers and, I'm sure like you, had the drill down pat.

I....as a Lineman.... Am having great memories of overtime checks format he past as we watch these hundreds of bucket trucks and digger derricks heading East.

My wife asked "what will they do when they get there?". I gave her the honest answer "sit and wait".

I remember driving 30 hours (prior to current ICC and CDL regs) only to sit and wait 2 days to be dispatched. But .... Sitting and waiting on double-time never much bothered me in my 20's..

: )

I have been trying all day to get on the deployment team but no such luck. I thought knowing the area I would not have a problem but our funds are almost gone so a non essential person like me can provide nothing and will most likely get in the way. I know FEMA is ready and they have learned a lot since Katrina and we are spun up to support them if required. It is going to be a long weekend for us.

Stay safe and dry....

Surrounded by water.Soundside flooding is caused by the NW wind as the system moves by.It was 2" deep in my ground level shop & as deep as a foot in my yard.It has gone down a little.Should not have any get in the house. Now I'll be stuck here till it goes down a bunch more.I'm sure it is 2' deep at the end of the road.

X 2...

But my new garage currently looks like a hurricane hit the inside of it. Preparing it for paint by dismantling the built in shelving, which will be put back up after painting of the walls and ceiling and coating of the floor.

FREE DUST!!! Take all you want!!!

what a beautiful morning! Took off and rode the bike to dialysis. Left 3 hours early, planned on a bite to eat. Well i made the first curve and just decided to slow down, way down. I never seen above 35mph from that point on and decided to take the really long route there. I ended up pulling in the parking lot at 1145! Man it was just beautiful this morning out in the woods!

Nice day for a ride, me and Becky took off and went to Washington. Had some BBQ at Boss Hogs and it was delicious. Not bad prices either. Had her ride the ULY back and the GPS started taking us around in circles but it put it us on some pretty good roads. Overall a good day.

nada here in LA no rain even.

Brankin Nice digs,
we did similar found a desirable garage with an attached house, yours is up mine is beside..

Kristi / Carlos, I sent some trinkits by Webie not much I hope that you liked em.

while I'm on avoid OMHR, I got ticketed "in excess of speed limit" well the money spent on my recent indescrection, may have been tossed out the window,

the concequences may be very serious..

sad part was I was working on riding a ~65 mph pace. no mad dashes just smooth and steady, and was makiing my "exit pass"

I asked (pleaded) for a pass explaining how grave this could be, for me, ARSE stuck me any way, "we are trying to stop this speeding" peopel are getting killed and I hate to have to call next of kin, blah blah blah,

"I will cut you a break and write you for
in excess of 55 mph"

what was odd, was while lecturing me a second buell came around the bend he stepped out and flagged him to stop.

the second stop made was "irregular" I was standing infront of the radar as the other bueller came around the corner, and I am pretty sure that he got a ticket too. I wonder how the radar saw him with me in the way.

baah....

the 1125r's new name is TICKET...

any way I have decided that OMHR is off limits for me indefinately...

Been kind of quiet here lately.

I'm headed up to an ADV rally in Vermont with Mike & Co later this week. Should be fun. I haven't slept in a tent since the Daytona trip in 2006.

When is everyone heading to BUELLTOBERFEST? Not real sure if we are gonna make it but we are trying to plan it in. I will be on pre-deployment leave hopefully during that time and can make a trip down.

Hi all. Don't you love it when that cage driver says "I didn't see him."? It's always fun when they cut you off and you have to dump the bike in the middle of the road. Luckily it was low speed and only minor damage (dislocated toe, broken peg & shift lever. Road rash on bar end, slider, clutch lever and puck). I'll heal and the bike will be repaired. Just annoying.
