**That is a nickel in the background, not a quarter**

Per the advice of another badwebber, I bought these from www.cep-usa.com and I am VERY impressed. My headphone problems are gone! They are tiny and the response is good and loud enough. No more dislodging headphones after putting my helmet on. $85 and the best part is they are the only headphone that come with foam tips, not flanges, or other plastic stuff. So it's the best of both worlds.

Yeah, but how do they sound and how well do they block road noise?
Always looking for something better than etymotics, but haven't found it yet. Maybe, these?

See how large the foam tip is?

Cool. Why is it the end of it looks like a screw? You just screw them in until they block the blood flow?

I too hate ear buds. I have not been able to stand having anything in my ears. I use small headphone speakers velcro-ed inside my helmet. They work great until one gets a little out of place......ouchie! It'll make you pull over until you get it right. That has only happened a couple of times in two years of use.

It screws into the foam tip. Btw they have 3 different sizes of foam tips. Even one for "her pleasure".

I have those too. They are very solid in construction, and the sound quality is good, but not as much low end as my Shure ear phones (which also can be used with foam tips). The thing I don't like is that they are not as loud as my Shure's. They get loud enough, but not as much room for adjustment upward when that really good song comes on. The great thing for me is that they use the same foam tips as my military issue CEP's used with my flight helmet (which I always have extra tips lying around).

OKC

I am glad they worked out for you!! I love them too, will never need to go for anything else. If I am drowning out the available volume of these, I am hammering on it through the twisty bits, and as such am concentrating on other things!!

If you get any "pressure" or pain from them, try the smaller tips, and they even have contoured ones now, so many possible fits. I have actually pulled over to eat and such and forgot I was wearing them, wondering why it was so quiet wherever I was!!! LOL

Enjoy

Bruce

Thanks David, I just bought a set.

I called and was asking questions, and I think the owner got on the phone.

I asked him "I guess they are built for voice frequency's, but in a noisy environment like a motorcycle helmet, how does music sound?". He said I will be happy. I was asking about frequency response and he said they don't have great frequency response over 10K but if you have been riding for very long, you probably already have high frequency hearing loss anyway and will not notice. He said they have good base response.

I am riding with 12dB noise isolation ear buds now (that hurt after a short time because the helmet puts pressure on them). He said testing showed these to be up around 30dB isolation.

I asked him "for lack of a better word, is the speaker in the ear, or is it using air tubes?". He said something about it being a transducer and it is in the ear.
They have a 12" thin coax cable down to the "T", then 31" of coax to the 3.5mm connector.

They come with 2 different size foam pieces so you can figure out what size you need to use, then you can buy additional foam from him or the manufacture.

I told him I heard about them on BadWeatherBikers.

Since I listen to music every time I ride, I will post a sound review "on bike" as soon as I receive them.

I received my CEP's today. I was expecting something that was small, but sounded like an "aircraft headset" geared towards the frequencies of voice.
WOW, These things sound great! I have them plugged into a Cowon D2+ MP3 player which has much more power (and sound quality) then an Ipod. The Cowon has an EQ, and I did have to turn the base up just a little. They take more power to drive then my Dannon in ear monitors, but the CPE's sound quality is pretty darn good!
The construction is Heavy Duty. they have a clip you can use to secure the "Y" to your jacket so you don't accidentally pull them out of your ears. Plus they come with nice carrying case.

I use this audio stuff 1.5 hours each way to and from work on the Train. I look forward to trying the 30dB noise protection against the noise the ladys make who sit in front of me every morning as they talk. Plus I will try them on the Bike.

Thanks for showing them OKC!

When it's inserted into your ear, does'nt the black part touch the inside of your helmet?

Exactly Towpro, the kicker is the 30-ish db isolation. They may not be al loud, but at highspeed, they should be as loud or louder than Shure's because of the isolation.

Badrp, I am laying on the bed typing this message with the CPE's in. They are flush with the outside of my ears, then the cable comes out at a 45deg angle, and I angle it straight down. My helmet had pockets where my ears go, and I have Autocom speakers in the pockets. Yes I could feel one hitting the speaker, but I can push the speakers further into the pockets if needed. When I wear my Dannon Ear buds, they stick out of my ears around 1/2" more then the CPE.

Etennuly,
They are only open on weekdays, but I got mine in 3 bus days. He said he would ship next day, but you'd have to cover the cost. Given it's Mem Day Wkd, you might just want to spluge to ensure you get them. I'm sure you'll like'em.

Note: turn the stem so it is facing straight down thru the open part of the bottom of your ear. Look in a mirror to see what I mean when you get them.

What's the latest on these? How have they hold up? Do they still sound good? Would you buy again?

Thanks,
Jim
