ok so i bought a race ecm not to long ago from buell and they sent me the full exhaust map. not a big deal i sent it back and they sent me a new one tuned for my exhaust setup (fmf slip on) and the bike still is not running right. ive done multiple tps resets and cant figure it out. Any help? seems like its still running too rich and stumbles under accel and backfires. am i missing something?

Yeah, check with Erik Buell Racing to see if you ar set up to have the BAS disconnected. Or just disconnect it and see.

All problems like this that I have seen here have been related to the BAS or some other mismatch between the ECM set up and the bike's actual config.

BTW, did you get your bike from Chandler H-D? How has their service department been?

ok i guess ill just give them a call tomorrow. and ya i did purchase it from chandler hd and they have been great. everyone there is really cool. Ebr said they would hook it up to a bike before they sent it out to make sure that it was working properly so idk what the issue could be other then the tps not resetting or the BAS not being removed.

Whats everyone doing with the BAS? Are you having Erik Buell Racing disconnect it or leave it on?

You are probably going to be best off emailing Erik Buell Racing since they're phones are slammed. Haven't done it myself but that was what they have said.

Be careful with Chandler H-D. Thus far, they have failed to actually fix anything on my bike. They are nice and I have been trying to be patient but they have either not actually looked at what I have brought the bike in there for or they have not actually done any troubleshooting.

They do answer e-mails quickly.
Had a discussion of sorts with them just yesterday.

Erik Buell Racing is heading for Infineon. You may not hear much until they return.

Remember, you're now talking a company of barely a dozen souls. They're beyond busy.

Hahahaha ... a "dozen" would be a 20% increase.

: )

Best bet . . .

Send them an e-mail with a meaningful subject line, tell them the situation in detail, give them your contact info and tell them what time to call.

If not (I know . . from yesterday) you can spend 2 or 3 hours listening to a busy signal.

They do super with e-mail.

I'd keep the BAS active in the ECM.

Weren't the BAS points used in the early Erik Buell Racing race ECM for quick shifters, this was then remapped to the sidestand points which are only used on our European models.

The Erik Buell Racing Race ECM on my 09 1125R has kept the BAS and on request to Erik Buell Racing the quick shifter functionality was dropped so I can still use the sidestand switch - suggest you e:mail Erik Buell Racing for confirmation of what has been enabled etc in the map in your ECM

ok so i am thinking this might be a long shot but i know that the alarm system can stop the bike from running so is switching the ecm making the alarm think its stolen?? at least that's what i thought the manual said. i cant seem to find it to turn it off either. i have it set to ask mode.

You are US right? So the only thing that should be making a problem is the BAS since that is programmed to be the GP shifter switch. Have you unplugged that yet? Other than that the bike should run great. I was mystified at first (being one of the first to order a Race ECM)and thought the bike was screwed...then Michael emailed me about the BAS and sure enough problem solved.

E B R says the BAS is not a factor on the newer ones. My race ECM acted much like yours--and it was ordered for my setup (FMF slip on and pump gas). I sent it back for a refund.

Of course I'm going to get flamed for this, but if I decide to mess with the fueling again, I will buy a Power Commander and have it dyno-tuned. Nothing beats a map made just for your bike.
