so, the day before yesterday i stop at my local auto parts store to pick up some stuff to clean up the rear wheel on my 1125... i also picked up these little led 194 bulbs for the 'marker' lights in the headlight... get to the shop, install lights, wash entire bike, even air dried it with a leaf blower (crafty, i know LOL) go to head home, thing runs like dog turd... falls on its face under hard accel, backfires and sputters, so i ASSUME i got an electrical connection wet, something along those lines, park it for the night, next day, same thing... so, on a hunch, i re-install the regular bulbs- problem SOLVED! I heard of this before with older 'vetts doing something similar if the incorrect wattage bulb was installed in the taillights, but i thought leds took less wattage... anyone have their 2cents they wanna throw in on this?? |

Not an expert by any stretch of the imagination. Here's a shot in the dark for ya. Some led's have a resistor(I think) built into the bulb. If so, I'm gonna guess and say that was messin' with the ECM some how. Don't hold me to it. I'm a real flake when it comes to automotive electrical. |

I think it is just a coincidence. To check, you should install those new bulbs again and see if the problem repeats itself without the bike being washed. |

I put the LED's in mine with no problem. Like Ron's post |

I've seen Ford Explorer transmissions stop shifting with LED tail lamps before. Most of the sensors operate in the millivolt range, changing bulbs can alter a ckt over a volt. |

Might want to check the baro sensor. They usually get installed incorrectly and may fill with water. The nipple should be pointing down and to the right when properly installed. |

thanks guys for the comments back... i dont think it was a coincidence, i literally pulled over on the side of the road and changed them, and it was right back to 'normal' which i half guess from reading other posts on here that my new ecm didnt have the 'latest and greatest' flash- but all in all, i love the bike... i hate to say it, but even the quirks... kinda like a high maintence girlfriend, lol... I'm wondering if these don't have the resistor mentioned, and the ones you guys installed do, OR the ones you have installed with no issues draw a bit more than mine... the ones i installed were (Pilot was the brand i believe or APC) cheapy single led-type wedge bulb replacements- ive seen some online that have as many as 10 leds per bulb... they were not very bright, so i cant imagine they draw much at all- with the exception of if they do have the resistor built inside of them... i had some form of that when i installed intergrated led turn signals in my gixxer a few years back- those ones were fairly large in size, about the size of a kit-kat bar as i recall. But again, thanks for the insight guys, im really glad i stumbled upon this forum, ive been able to learn so much about my bike on here |
