Does anyone make a luggage rack, (the bigger the better), for an '09 Lightning Long? For me, if a bike has no rack, it's almost useless! |

Dio, I have a 09 lightning long, and picked up the Buell bags that straddle the rear on either side. They connect under the seat with velcro. it doesn't have any permanent attachment to the bike though.. I got it off ebay for about half the MSRP. Mine was "long" specific as well.

Wow! That's a lot of camping stuff. How far did you ride like that? I'm sure you got a few thumbs up on the way. |

My wife and I did about 900 miles that weekend. No problems with the rack... but on the way home found the bike napping when we came out of Applebees. Caused some damage to my cheap cateye barend mirror and the passenger peg. Now much more careful to put something under the kickstand. Did another 1000+ mile weekend two up but using the Ventura bag instead of the dry bag. Still had the tent and thermarests strapped to the top though. Try to keep the heavier stuff in the saddlebags. |

Dang, with all that weight up high and back there, how'd you keep the front wheel on the ground?? |

Rocks in the tank bag. Nah, never had a problem with the front wheel, although maybe the newer Longs with the taller suspension might be more wheelie prone. I try not to put too much weight on the back... mostly the big bag has our sleeping bags and a change of clothes. Takes up a bit of room but doesn't weigh too much. |
