Hello All, Just wanted to mention that I got my Special Ops Muffler in and installed. Odie hooked me up with a complete unit, valve still intact, for my 2009 XB12X. I kept my OEM unit. I wanted the OEM look with the swooped tail pipe still intacked. He said, no problem. I received it and had it on in an hour or so. The muffler was one of Odie's re-worked core units and was 99% fresh upon arrival. There was one small dent just behind the chin faring attach points. Nothing it won't receive in the future. It was a core unit after all, what should one expect? I was happy! I managed to get a 150 miles or so on the bike the last few days. The sound is PERFECT for this Old Man. Ya hammer the bike and it has a very nice hummmmm, probably 30% or 40% louder than the OEM. Its sounds real nice at idle with a nice deep Badum Badum Badum, not tinny sounding at all and at highway speeds its not such a loud drone as to give ya a headach or fatigue. You hear it and the bike behind you hears it but the third or forth bike doesn't! Well unless they are all Stock ST 1300's! Wild life runs away as you come at them! AHhahaaaaaaaa. Horses and the like run for cover. I have only set off a few car alarms and thats only because I was cranking on the bike in neighborhoods. The power is very good above 2500 all the way to the rev limiter and I did not really notice any lack of low end sept just right off idle. Zooooooom Zooooooom Zooooom , Potato Potato Potato. Its really just what I was looking for. If you remember, I posted about having the D & D. It was so freaking loud and had poor low end but massive mid range. The sound of the D&D was nasty and uneven in traffic. It was damn loud and sounded good at full throttle but after that it was just nasty. The D & D had massive popping on Decel. The SOP has very little pooping on decel and whats there is muffled. Not much more than the OEM produced. Don't ask, The D & D is already GONE. Very expensive lesson! I am VERY Satisfied with the Special Ops Unit. It really has all that I was looking for. So now do I need to do anything like a K&N or will that cause issues with the ECM? Happy OPS Customer for sure....... BDRAG (Message edited by Bdrag on March 14, 2010) |

Wow, your muffler was pooping? I hate that. Must be marking it's territory just like an old Harley! |

"a complete unit, valve still intact, for my 2009 XB12X." So the muffler valve is still there and functional? The muffler valve is the main reason I haven't considered swapping out my XT's stock exhaust. |

Forgive the Newbie. Who is this Odie guy, and how would one reach him to see if he has more setups like the one you talk about? I am looking for a little more sound than the OEM muffler but like you do not want to loose the valve. |

Pkforbes87 Shoot Michael Olfield an email at the link in a following post and he will explain what he does. I do not know if it does much but its there and the unit is 100% stock looking from the outside which means when the noise natzies come knocking its a hell of alot more likly to pass and stay on.
