I got the diagnosis from the dealer just now. It is a Stator Assy. Failure. The dealer is ordering the new assy. and the gasket and new screws for the fix. Battery, voltage requlator and alternator all in tact.

So far the dealer is doing a great job and sounds like they are on top of it. They have said they have done a few stator assy. so far and this failure is not uncommon and the new assy's have not gone bad so far. We dont know how many miles are on the new assembalies no bikes have come back that they have worked on for this issue. That is a good sign.

I will give an update on work performed it looks like my bike will be there for at least a week at this point.

Oh and to note dealer has written down to have my bike re flashed for current firmware M3PUS152 for CR. I like what I have been told so far. The only thing left is the mechanical service end of it. Customer service has been great so far.

was your bike parked in front of Santa rosa apartment homes on Saturday morning?
I live there and saw a black cr when I rolled out for work.
I had stator failure at 3000 miles and then again at 5000 .
thats when I got a bunch of updated parts and a phone call from buell
alls good now and I have 17000 miles

Are these stators made in China from old computer parts from the US?

Yep that was me Naiguy broke down in Murrieta on Kevin Street. You are the one with the Red CR that I saw that one day on Clinton Keith I was in my car?

A week ago monday it started to have issues 4,100 miles build date dec. 08. Engine Light and Battery light both came on. Tell me more on how you happen to get another Stator failure at 5,000? Good to see there is a light at the end of the tunnel glad you got 12,000 miles of no issues.
What were the updated parts? Do you know who makes the Stator? Dealer couldnt tell me.

first one happned this time last year QUaid fixed it,told me it would be a week then never called i had to call them......you know the story. the next one about a month or two after if i recall. got that one fixed at Biggs thats when the service writer told me about updated parts on the second fix. i go to them now for stuff and skip fordyce as well. Quaid just rubbed me wrong once and thats all it takes
i was without my bike for a week both times.
after the second one a guy calls me from buell and we talked for about a half and hour.
wanted to know how i road the bike how often and what rpm range etc etc then we got to talking about other stuff.
dude was super cool and wanted to make sure that all was good with my CR

Wow cool about that Buell guy. Unfortunately I was forced to go to Quaid and yep I had to call to find out status. Harley said I needed to tow it to the nearest dealer. Hopefully that does not happened to mine so far they have been nice but dont know about the work performed yet. I bought mine at Skip and funny enough that was were I was going that morning. Where is Biggs at?

I found Biggs Escondito area thats not bad only 37 miles from us. Skip is almost 50. Damn hopefully Quaid fixes my ride okay. I dont want a Stator failure twice like you had.

I picked up a Battery Tender/Charger from Skip the other day so I can be prepared at least for anything in the future.
