I'll take it

Great looking shock.

The restoration will not be finished in time but does not the recall shock also count for original. Just kidding, not my call this time. It is in the expert hands of Jay and Ross....

Lets see, I may be able to get most modified if I take the one I am building now. Earliest S2 if I take number 35 or maybe there will be an award for MOST S2s owned. That way I can just ride number 95.... I can ride the Uly and take the "most lame rider" award.

In light of recent activity I think I need this. Maybe some other tuber riders will join us this year.

How about if you give me the 1125R and I'll give you the "most generous" award : p. JK, I'd say you're 'pretty close' to that one already lol.

Sorry, can't help you there, Ross. This one was an extraordinarily fortuitous happening.
And sorry about the pipe, too. That ended up getting installed the day before leaving for the S2 Round-up when I discovered my original had cracked again.

Eric and Frank, I forgot to mention that my Dad said that the trailers are welcome to stay on his lot if needed, so you can ride from AMA to Leakey. He has 2 acres 20 mi SE of town, where nobody would bother with them.

It is going to be great this year Rex since we will have no responsibilities.

I have a Baldwin seat of the S2 now and it is without a doubt the best seat I have ever had. That old corbin was killing me. I should be able to ride in less pain down to Texas.

I look forward to seeing you again.

PS, I saw that post you did on line for that jerks article, I am right above you as MSGT S... LOL

I'm going to have to look into Loren's seats, I'd like a new one for my XB12SS.
I'm still good with my corbin on the white S2, it's pretty much succumbed to the shape of my butt.

Looks like a great time and it looks like the core of the "Usual Suspects" will be in attendance.

I will attend this and Homecoming next year but if I could only attend one event this would be it.

Ross, you might want to post in other places like the Quick Board (or whatever is appropriate) so everyone will know about it. There is nothing as great as seeing a XB rider drool over the S2s. Who knows, maybe we will get a few more fanatics, I mean owners out of it. It is important, for the survival of the event, to include all Buell owners and fans of Buell at these types of events.

I took a couple of bikes out yesterday, the 1125R, the Uly, the XB12Scg (a very fun bike) and the S2T. The S2T felt somewhat heavy, loud, slow and vibrated a lot which may be due to the low temps and rubber isolators. I loved it!!!

I agree. I would like to only have one event to go to. Could we discuss having the S2 gathering at the Homecoming events? Would make it easier...REX

I would like to see the S2 event be separate from Homecoming. If it is mixed in with Homecoming it will become diluted, and not be all about S2's. Just my 2 cents. Like Frank, I put the S2 event in front of Homecoming and look forward to it moving around the country.

Rex, yes, it would make things easy and I have given this a lot of thought. My feelings, and I have no authority here, is we could have it right BEFORE Homecoming one year but that would be up to someone local to that area or at least would require us to have a liaison for that event. This way we can celebrate the S2 and its owners properly without getting caught up in Homecoming events.

Maybe at the 20 or 25 anniversary of the S2 it would be appropriate.

As most of you know, our own Mr. Spiderman will be doing the 2011 event which leaves 2012 and beyond open. If you all know a year that you would like to have it in conjunction with Homecoming then that is something we think about. It is something to discuss at the 2010 event for sure.

My personal feelings are as follows:

1. It is important to have it in different locations so a majority of people could attend at one point in time.

2. The area is important, the smaller and more isolated the town the better.

3. I would really like to see it spread each year to the East and West Coast areas and maybe Canada.

4. I would like to see more non-S2 Owners show up.

If this four things jive or don't please post upI have no authority here. I know the 2010 event is going to be great. It is isolated with great roads and with great people.

To let you all in on something I am thinking about, I am going to pester Mr. Ratbuell and Mr. 1313 for the 2012 event. I think I can hold them hostage at Homecoming to get them thinking about it.

I keep thinking about the S2 Owners that rode their outdated machines over 10K miles collectively to play in my backyard. The least I can do is ride out to an East or West coast event.

So, we have time and we can discuss it. Think about it for the 2010 event and as always just post up here with you ideas. Rex is one of those forward thinkers that can plan for any event and we can all learn from his input.

See you all in Texas.....

I second the motion to keep the event seperate.
I will only be able to make it to one event this year, and Debbie and I plan on making it to the S2 gathering.
I agree with moving it around the country, that way everyone can get a chance to attend, and us diehard riders can crank out some miles.
I agree with the isolated locations, with good curves close by.
I'm on the fence about bringing in other people. I kind of like it being exclusive to S2 enthusiasts.
I don't mind if other bikes show up, as long as their owners are there to see these gorgeous bikes we love and ride.

sounds good. the S2 Gathering would probably work best as a separate group, and moving around the country is cool. I am flexible, but vacation is limited. best to wait and see. I think the homecoming this year will be interesting, since it is the first year after the closure of the Buell Company. The worst motorcycling ride is better than the best hospital stay. REX

I kind of like it being exclusive to S2 enthusiasts. If it as only for S2 riders then where does that leave Denny (Uly), Kelly (KZ), Kim (Triumph) and Lynn (Sporty).

The awards of course will be for the S2 riders but the event should be open to anyone that wants to go. I think that is what you mean. The event is about and for the S2s and riders.

If it was only S2 Riders that attend I doubt I would go. There just are not that many that;
1. own a S2
2. fanatical like us
3. on the badweb

Limiting an event to one make and model of bike is not smart and will kill an event quickly.

I recommend posting the event in the Storm Fronts section for those that may want to come out and hang out with a bunch of S2 riders.

Frank,
I did not say, "S2 Riders", I said "enthusiasts". There is a difference.
There are folks that ride other brands, or models, that appreciate the S2, and I would include them.
The issue I am worried about, and didn't really want to mention in an open forum is:
There are a lot of new folks on Buells nowadays, some good, some bad.
I have met some of the "squids" that ride Buells, and am not impressed, they are nothing like us "old-timers".
I think if we keep the gathering to enthusiasts, we may just weed out the squids, and maintain the same friendly, outgoing, enjoyable time we enjoyed at the first gathering.
There, you made me come out of my closet and say it, are you happy now? ; )

As do I Bart, very good observation.

I'm in a bit of a dilema, do I ride or trailer.
The S2 has over 54,000 miles now. Do I ride it and burn up a set of tires or trailer it and arrive a bit more "fresh" for the festivities.
Plus the issue of weather. Pretty unpredictable arround these parts in April.
Might run into ice and snow on the way...

Hmmm...

I'm coming from just a couple of hundred miles away but plan to trailer since I hope to be picking up a visitor at the San Antonio airport and need to bring a spare bike for him. Also plan to throw a box of tools and spares into the truck, "just in case!"

Dan and Cil from NRHS here. We are still not sure if we can attend this year or not. Decision will probably be made around April.

If somebody has extra trailer space from Colorado all the way to the event let me know. Might be able to bring either the RS or RSS 1200 that way to show.
