Having a problem with my rear brake system on the 91 RS. Cannot build up pressure. Bled the brake multiple times, checked the calipers and disassembled the master cylinder. Everything looks really good, no leaks, but no pressure either.... I would like to replace the rubber in the master cylinder next. Does anyone know who made this? Is it Gambler too? Doesn't say anything on it. Where might I find replacement parts? Thanks for any input!!! |

Its a Brembo unit used on that time frame BMWs. I tried to source a rebuild kit through TAW. Lots of effort on my part and no action from them. |

It is a Gremica unit. These guys might be able to help. http://www.pingelonline.com/grimeca_brake_calipers .htm But first I would ask Tommy Anglim at Buell if he has any. |

Dave, Did they change from 91 to 92? My 92 had a Brembo unit on it. |

Cornel, the best way to bleed that thing is to take the caliper off the mount, then have a friend hold it up higher than the master cylinder. As you bleed it(put something between the pads), have him hold the caliper so that the air will come out. Once you do it, you'll see what I mean. Good luck. |

I found a new master for my (now sold) RS on ebay - I just changed the plunger lever to the one from the bike. FINALLY got some pressure back there. IIRC it was quite reasonable in price. |

We may have had th eoccasional Brembo in the building. I think they had the exact same MC but at a slightly higher cost. We purchased these from Cosmopolitan Motors in NJ and he would sometimes be out. Erik was not much on using the rear brake so these were never much use for stopping the bike, just to help set it up for a corner. |

Rich, thanks for the tip. I held up the master cylinder and had the caliper on the ground, but I will go ahead and reverse that before I start replacing parts. Dave, I tend to agree with Erik. I need the rear brake to clean off the rust on the disc though :-) Plus my wife refuses to ride the RS with no rear brake. And it is the only Buell I have on which she can safely get her feet on the ground. |

Cosmo (or what's left of it) is in Hatboro, PA. Don't know how much luck you'd have trying to get specific Grimeca parts from them, though. |

I was on there web page and they had a category called Erik's parts with nothing in it. It makes me wonder??? They provided not only the MC but also the taillight and I think the fuel filters and the steering stem. Likely a few other bits. |
