First the Cons:

1. 1st gear seems a little high.
2. The wife didn't like the rear seat because every time we came to a stop she slid forward.
3. A little warm on the right leg, and it was a cool day.
4. If I get this thing I'll most likely lose my license.
5. Wind buffet around neck and helmet.
6. Rear brake a little weak

Pros:

1. Handles great, very very sweet!
2. Very nice torque
3. Nice ride
4. FUN!
5. Comfortable!
7. Looks cool.
8. Front Brake excellent.

Overall, loved the bike.

The right leg getting hot and wind buffet seem to be common issues. Guessing there are was to fix or make both better.

Anyone else agree or disagree with my other Cons?

1. It is quite high. I use a lot of clutch when I ride with friends and we are in parking lots or traffic. Could do a swap to the XB9 primary which lowers the gearing essentially. Some swear by it I ust deal with it and try to not go slow.

2. My wife has learned how to hold herself so she doesn't do it. She says it is a good ab and arm workout. Your results may vary.

3. If it was an 08 or 09 you can pick up the comfort kit and that seems to help with the heat. Ceramic coating of headers seems to help also. I rarely notice it on my leg now that it is past 5000 miles.

4. Daily worry for me. Love it.

5. Wind buffeting can be fixed by going without a shield or by going to the standard Uly screen which is shorter. I am running without a screen right now and it is much nicer as long as you can handle the wind.

6. Learn to use the front more is the best advice I was given because I too fealt the rear is just there as decoration. I have gotten better but my dirt bike background sneeks up on me every once in awhile. I try to only use it in the last 10ft as I am coming to a stop or in combination with the front.

Get the bike you will enjoy the heck out of it.

Uly's are addicting.

My Uly loves cruising at 80 and it feels like 60. I received (2) tickets in the first (2) months of owning it.

Needless to say I have slowed down-alot.

2.Hangontight put extenders on the passenger peg mounts to bring the feet forward some. Apparently, this allows the passenger to use their legs for resistance during breaking.

5.I shaved 2" off my Buell tall windshield because of the wind noise. Now I like it. There are many windscreen options out there. Blogs have been written.

Pros outweigh cons.

The Comfort kit fits all years, it's just the ecm download that's only good for 08/09.

I have the XB9 primary and love it. I recommend it for off road and city riding.

He is looking at an XT so if it was an 08 or 09 he could get that kit. Did you buy it from Fatty yet?

Svh, when I read your statement it sounded like the comfort kit would only fit 08/09. Your correct, the XT could not be any older, I just didn't want somebody reading this with an 06/07 to think that the kit would not fit theirs. All the info you gave was correct, I just wanted to clarify.
Cheers!

The rear brake does feel a bit strange but I can lock mine up without effort. So I think the rear brake is perfect. You need to learn to use mostly front brake and combine it with the rear. We teach 70/30 front%/rear%. If you are a rear brake guy then ask yourself why sport bikes have two break rotors on the front wheel and always the weakest brakes on the rear. Because that is how you are supposed to brake. Always combine the brakes when you stop so that when you have to emergency brake you won't have to think about it because it is second nature and you'll save your arse.

Agree with the 70/30, only point I was making was the dramatic difference from front to rear braking. Nothing a person won't get used too.

I use the rear brake all the time and find that I can come into a corner faster without loading the front end by using the rear brake, it sort of flattens the bike instead of dropping the nose and lifting the rear.

My first impression of the rear brake was that it was missing.

Since getting used to it, I use the rear a bit like Swampy, but I wouldn't say I "rely" on it.

My first real rear brake "test" was in San Francisco. Steep downhill to a traffic light, guy in front of me hits his brakes, I stomp my rear brake and skid like a kid on a BMX bike (fully loaded with three cases and a full duffle lashed on). Since then I've been totally OK with the rear brake.

Down-shift and feather the rear. 70/30 or 60F/20R/20clutch would be more how I whoa-up.

Compared to the rear brake on my 78 bmwr100rs this o8 xb12xt is a powerful one. I`ve only had it 2 days but its an improvement over the ol beemer. Its even more fun than the 85 Yamaha fz750 I had and way more practical. Plus there are so many farkles I want to add
