But on the BMW F800GS.....just saw this thread on ADV http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=49 9504

From the description when the bearings go on the GS at speed it is very dicey situation.

I saw that thread too. For some reason it makes me fell better about the Uly bearing problems to know they aren't unique to Buell.

My 'US' made Rokon also has Chinese wheels and sealed bearings. Somewhat similar. I have to change out bearings at least once a year and it hasn't mattered which bearings I use. I do ride through a 'few' wet muddy areas, creeks and snow and drop it 10 or 20 feet occasionally.

I with you Jim....we see so much emphasis on the web version of Buell ownership that sometimes you think it is only "us".

Interesting to note that now that the 2009 Iron Butt is underway as of Monday that some of the BMW riders are packing a spare final drive unit for fear of failure.......every bike has issues yet we still love to ride them.

Didn't something like a dozen BMWs get a DNF last year because of final drive failures?

I read through that, and what was especially interesting was the shoddy assembly,
but excellent engineering argument...very funny.

Even when things go terribly wrong
for those chaps - they find a way to praise the engineering.

That’s rich.
