I have a CR as well...from the very beginning, I experienced "excessive" condensation inside the cluster. This was not acceptable to me and had the cluster replaced, under warranty...The new replacement cluster gets much less condensation, usually just a light mist after washing, but evaporates relatively quickly when I ride it...But I noticed the day after the cluster was replaced, the left edge of the clear plastic lens had water stains inside the cluster(where the clear lens meets the black housing. I didn't complain about it, simply because it was some thing that I didn't notice right away, but I should have....after all, I did spend $12K on a new bike! I can't believe the Flagship bike for Buell would have such flaws as this...from what i've heard, this type of problem is common on the 1125 series... To answer your question,no snail trails... |

I saw racerxusa has/had the same "snail trail" problem. |

The flaw isn't really in the design, it's dealing with weather conditions. I don't care what you do to an instrument cluster it will fog at some point. I've seen this in the military, on bikes, cars, etc... Even new windows with specially treated and sealed Argon Gas seem to last only a couple of years before they start to seep. It's all about the area you live in. What WOULD be nice is to have a way to remove/clean/re-seal the plastic face of the cluster, now that would be nice. Anything that is exposed to the elements and rapid changes in heat will create condensate. Perhaps creating a negative pressure vaccum inside the cluster would help delay the effects to, but someone in that department would have to speak up. So far, my new 09 cluster has been great, and I keep it as free from moisture as possible and when I get out of the rain I try and wipe it down asap. |

I have had no problems with condensation or water intrusion with my Sept 08 build date CR in the Seattle area. I have ridden more times than I can count in the rain as well as leaving it uncovered outside to get rained on while I'm at work. |

It does have something to do with design and/or manufacturing consistency. I can spray the cluster on my FZ1 directly with a hose and it has never shown a single spot of condensation or water on the inside. The 1125R fogged up the right half of the cluster after the first time I washed the bike (no pressure washer, just a garden hose). Now I avoid spraying it at all and just clean the cluster by hand. Both bikes are in the same environment, so that is clearly not a factor. |
