I have waited for at least 2 hours and no replies to my Quicksilver carb query. I now proclaim myself to be the president of the Quicksilver Calif S2T club! Now I have to answer my own questions. I feel like Tom Hanks marooned on the island, where is Wilson? Membership is open to anyone with a Calif S2 with the Quicksilver carb. You can be VP. |

Does it still work? Some here have said that they do not age well. |

Looks like I am still the only one in the club. Yes, the carb works just fine EXCEPT for the hot weather problem. It's been 2 years since I changed out the intake seals, probably time to do it again. Bluesboy, will have to look into the CV solution, thanks. Court, my signature plate says I am #30 of 36, but your book shows 34 bikes made for Cailf. Is this a typo? Thanks for the help. |

The one on Penny's S2T was temperamental at best and tended to do silly things like spew raw fuel into the air cleaner, then backfire thru the unit and catch fire. After it melted the lovely greenish CF air cleaner and about burned the bike up, I swapped the offending unit for a CV that was a fabulously better carb. Please don't tell the California Air Resources Board. After an admittedly very short test period, it is my opinion that the Quicksilver made a much better hand-launched projectile than an S2T air/fuel mixing unit.

Leftcoastal- Did you have to get any parts to adapt the CV or does it just bolt up. Still jazzed to be president of the club but looking at the carb as a future projectile... |

If I am remembering this correctly (she sold the bike 8 or 9 years back) it was pretty much a straight-up swap to the CV. I was given the CV by a friend that had it on an S1 and it had a few basic mods. The usual idle circuit plug removal and screw adjust, fatter jetting and maybe a Dynojet kit spring and needle. It also had a small chromed air cleaner with the carb, which I installed with the unit - due to the Carbon Fiber cover being charred and deformed from the fire. The CV was trouble free for the time she still owned the bike. I opted out of the Quicksilver club right around mid-trajectory. It's Ok though, as I was disgruntled and in bad standing for a while before that. The club's better off in my absence. I was digging thru my delightful assortment of coffee cans and boxes of nuts, bolts, wierdities and cast-offs a day or 2 ago and ran across the scorched breather 'T' and the air cleaner stand-offs for the quacksilver. Brought back fond memories of our parting company. AL |

I've never dyno'd it so seat of the pants says roughly 100 Hp and maybe the same lb.ft. torque. Typically the aerocharger will almost double the stock numbers, and since it has a stock 91 XL motor I'm 'ballparking' that 100. Goes pretty good once she "spools up" over 3500. At least that's what I remember - I so rarely ride it anymore that the poor thing sits forlornly in the garage. I better get it out for some exercise. As they used to say when I lived in Hawaii - "You like buy?" Al |
