If anyone needs the ecmspy program, you can get it on ebay. I just ordered a cable off ebay, and the seller said that the cable actually comes with the ecmspy program, driver installation guide and ecmspy instructions. So if anyone didnt get to download the ecmspy program off the website, go to ebay or email me and when I get the cable in I can send it to you. Good luck, Matthew Tully |

"You can't sell shareware." No but you can sell a cable and give away the shareware. This seller was NOT the problem. |

Pkforbes, I am not selling the software, the guy that I bought the cable off of is not selling the software, he is selling the cable and including the software. Did you actually read my post???? Blue Pipe, I got it from lik5777. The software also comes with a map as well. |

I could have phrased my last post better.. I didn't mean YOU specifically. Meant no offense, just pointing out that people who try to profit from someone else's work are the reason that the program just became more difficult to access. |

No No No, I didnt mean to sound rude myself. Sorry about that, I myself have never seen the software it's self for sale. The only thing I personally have seen that would be considered a little suspcet is the website. The guys sells maps, I think, that is the only thing I have seen kinda fishy. I myself dont see anything wrong with what the guy I bought it off ebay is doing. Selling the cable and including the software. I mean you got to buy the cable anyway, why not make it easy for the buyer by including the program as well. Know what I mean.... Sorry for any confusions on my last post Pk... See ya, Matt Tully |

The reason you got the dots is because that website is part of the problem. |

Releasing a product as shareware does not give up your intellectual property rights. Without having those rights, it is illegal to redistribute the software, regardless if you take money for it or not. To give those up, you as the owner, must explicitly give them away (I recommend the BSD or Apache license). I don't know what the license terms are for ECMSpy, I never downloaded it. |

What is up with all these legal mubojumbo posts about ecmspy. Who really cares about all these rights and stuff. If you are not selling it or profiting from the software. Who cares if you help out other motorcycle enthusiasts by GIVING them the software. Thats what the actual program was made for anyway. Does it really matter if you download it for free from the website. Or if I download it for free from the website, then give it to someone else. It just really doesnt matter guys. |
