Perhaps there is some kind of harmonic sound of the Dunlop D616 that causes the deer to come to the bike? My Pirelli equipped 06 never has deer issues, but then again the Micron could be a cause too Froggy, I just made the mistake of putting my deer whistles on backwards and they ran to me instead of away. |

I'll add another vote for the '06 Uly. I just hit 25,000 miles on mine recently. My only complaint is the warped front rotor on this bike. I've had the rotor replaced once under warranty at around 7,000 miles and I think and the second one made it less than 5,000 miles before the pulsing returned. (I have 40,000 on my '03 Lightning & have never had a problem w/ the pulsing & my wife has 25,000 on her '03 Lighting w/o pulsing either.) By way of comparison, my wife recently got an '09 Uly XT (cause she was jealous of mine) and she loves hers. Personally, I like my '06 way better than hers. Granted, we're talking X vs. XT, but I had also thought that my '06 just has a lot more get up & go! The engine on her '09 runs fine, but my '06 just feels so much more alive. (It loves to lift the front & her '09, well - not as much so.) My .02. |

Buelet, regarding the wheelie factor, the X suspension helps bring the front up more than the XT. Also, I found the 09 X to wheelie easier than my 06 X. The 09's are smoother throughout the power band, so it doesn't "feel" as powerful as the older bikes. Similar to how a CVT car feels slower than a geared car because of difference in power delivery. |

+1 Froggy on the CVT comparison... that may very well be it, but.... I LIKE my '06 better! Even if it's just the way I perceive it! I might have to demo the '09 X to compare, but I really shouldn't. It's bad enough that between my wife & I, we have 5 Buells! And I can't afford any more right now! |

I'm with Lar except I have the sexier '06 Orange. 3yrs, 9mos, and almost 43K miles and all it needs is a better rider. |

Lars, I had to check to see where you are from with that lovely comment. I guessed right. |

I'll wager the 2010's will be the hot ticket here at the later part of this month. Nobody will have one yet but all will be lusting. |

all it needs is a better rider. Likely that won't be found! No body does cliff diving better than you! |

Well, if you are going to do something you need to do it right! |

Cyclonedon...you're so right...I forgot how much I love the "American Motorcycles" decal under the "Buell" on the airbox cover. It's the right design element...heck, it could say, "V-Twin Sportbikes" and I'd still feel like it was the right thing to have...it's like an underline to the brand name. Deer love D616s...that's a sick connection. But I love that kind of out-of-the-box thinking. |

I got the 08. Needed the XT and low seat to safely stop in a cross wind. Could the lower fuel economy be because of the new oil system or the larger bearings? I think you are talking about Cory's bike with the loud pipe. |
