I am very late in this write-up, due to being too damned lazy to actually install the brackets until now. Sorry about that Ian.

Anyway, I got the Cruiser Peg brackets for my 08 Ulysses. I was told that the 08 model needed a few treaks to clear the oil cooler. I am happy to report that the brackets went on just fine and clear everything easily.

The whole bracket arrangement weighs a couple of pounds, maybe. You will not notice them with regards to weight, I guarantee that. The kit is nice quality and comes with all required hardware, except for the pegs themselves. I ride 2-up from time to time, so I had to get an extra set of passenger pegs. No biggie there.

Installation took maybe an hour. Very easily done with the instructions provided on the web site. This is about as close to plug and play as you can get with mechanical stuff.

Of course, I had to take the Uly out for a ride to test the new farkle. I would swear that these brackets are made using a 6'3" (34 inch inseam) person as the fitting model. Absolutely perfect foot position when up on the highway pegs. I can go with my feet centered on the pegs, or hook my heels with the toes pointed forward. I was a little concerned about the right leg along the pipes, but that turned out to be a non-issue.

Ian, I do apologize for taking so long to install the brackets and provide the feedback. To everybody else that is on the fence about the Cruiser Pegs, get off the fence and stretch out on those long rides. You will be glad you did.

Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, Michael,
you're only making it worse! I can't make them quick enough and already have a bunch of riders waiting.

Seriously though, many thanks for the feedback and a few pictures would be great!

PS. it's really funny sometimes because this idea received more 'why' comments than positive but has turned out to be a top-seller, just as I thought (classic case of 'works for me, so must work for others').

...I'd still love to see some sort of tubular crash cage....we've got a BMW GS-A that we traded in, it has a cage around the engine and it's just *teasing* me every time I walk by...grrrr ; )

Oh, in that case...these things are utter crap.

Just kidding obviously. I do like them a lot. I will get pictures up when I get pictures of the bike now.

Here are a few pictures of the Cruiser Pegs installed on my 08 Uly.

When I got the brackets, I considered painting them black prior to installation. I am glad I didn't. I think that black would not have looked as good. I think the brackets actually look pretty good with the industrial look the Ulysses has to begin with.

Dang! Check out that rusty muffler & header.
Is all that rust from the nuke plant you work at?

Nope, all that rust is because it doesn't affect the performance of the bike, and I would rather ride than polish.

I will probably get the new pipe sometime this summer.

Skyclad - 10/10 for effort
If you think the Peg Kit is good, you should try the Windshield Kit - they go together like apple-pie and custard (or maybe pancakes and syrup States-side!).

Strada, I did look at the Windshield Kit, but find that even with the tall shield, I just don't need it. I don't get the buffeting that most people talk about. Maybe my long arms put me far enough back from the windshield, but whatever the reason, I am good.

A farkle story in pictures:

They work quite well and will help my bum left knee a lot.

Thanks and a hat tip to Skyclad for providing instructions (I inadvertently gave Strada a bad email address).

Around $140 + P&P at today's exchange rate.
Knurled pegs are $55 but you can use the pillion ones if they're not being used.
Haven't got any spare availability for a few weeks though - proving more popular than I first thought!
The more up-right riding position of this type of bike makes this work so well and on longer journeys, lets you use/rest a whole different set of muscles - surprisingly comfortable as well!

I noticed that there is a clearance issue with the '08 exhaust. I have an Micron after market exhaust on my Uly. Will these fit with this exhaust?

The clearance issue is with the newer European exhaust.
I don't think it will currently suit the Micron headers.
Can you send me a few shots? ipes1@aol.com

Cheers, Froggy.
From the looks of it, I reckon it will fit.
The critical part if the top fixing above the front header. The 'peg kit strut that attaches here goes downwards and is 90 degrees to the bottom cross-bar.
At worst, I think it would need a few extra mm onto the top spacer.

Has any one tried this with a RRS? I am thinking of taking on a set.
