Ok so the low beam (high beam works fine) on my 2003 xb9r isnt working. How do I tell if its the bulb, or a fuse, or the entire part thats broken?

Thanks in advance for any helpful advice, tips, comments.

Yeah, just go down the line:
- check the fuse
- check the bulb connection
- pull the bulb and inspect- a blown bulb is typically recognizable by a broken filament and/or a darkened color to the glass

If none of that, start tracing wired to find the break. Also check the switch to be sure that it is making contact.

Prob just a blown bulb tho.

I just had the recall done last week. Both headlight housings should be replaced, and I can actually see at night! Wait till they are done. Maybe the bulb went bad cuz the old housings! (hint, hint)

Heres some info for all of you Buell owners. The Hi-Beam and Lo-Beam take the same LAMP. The difference between the two is the headlamp HOUSING. The lo side housing looks dull from the Hi side housing. The internal reflectors are different between the two. Even with the lights off you should be able to see the difference of the headlamp assemblies, one is brighter than the other. Do diagnos your problem take the bulb out of the hi-beam side and put it in the low side(don't touch it with your fingers or clean with glass cleaner after you do) if it works you just have a bad bulb, if not you will have to continue the diagnosis.

got my bike back from recall service. Headlights work great. They also replaced a blinker lens cover for me that had randomly fallen off one day and tightened my steering head all for free.

I have to give props to Donahue Harley Davidson and Buell for going above and beyond for me.

Donahue is good, they need more Buells in their Brainerd shop imo. I'll have to test ride a 1125 when I go back this summer, a week without a Buell is a long week

lamps(bulbs) can be checked with an ohms meter resistance = good lamp.
