The never ending search for that perfect windscreen continues. Today I received my Madstad Engineering 18" adjustable tinted screen. But before I give you a opinion on the new screen let me give you a little background. I'm 6'2", 220 lbs with a 34" inseam. I tour a lot, do some LD events and like to hit the curves when I have time. I average 10K to 20K miles a year, which I share between the Uly and the BMW GSA. I've owned my Uly 2 years now and still love it. I've been using two shields, one for winter, an after market one single piece barn door that is ugly as sin but kept the cold wind off of me, and in the summer I used the stock windshield with a Laminar Lip. That set up gave me clean flow of wind but again, looked ugly.

Today I mounted the new Madstad screen, set the screen on the high and forward setting and went for a ride. I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised. I had clean air flow that hit the top of my helmet. No buffeting, just nice clean air. I then set it on the high setting but angled it back, which I think kept the lines of the bike nicely. In this position I got clean air and now it was hitting the helmet about at nose level. But again, it was clean air.

So far I'm really happy. I think the solid shield designs, no matter how tall, will create a vacuum behind the shield causing turbulence. I like the design of the Madstad since it allows air to come up from underneath the shield, possibly helping the clean air flow. I also like the idea that in the summer I can lower the shield for more air. The shield is also wider, keeping the buffeting off of my shoulders.

Keep in mind I've only had it a day, but I have to say that I'm very happy with it. It looks good, although the tint looks a little red, I'd rather have black tint, and the fit to the bike is very good.

Great report. I'd be interested in another after you've used for a few more months and/or lots of miles.

I've had the Madstrad tall touring for about 6 months now and I love it. Much cleaner ride. I also picked up a plain flyscreen from them for when I get the urge to ride "naked"

Put mine on today! Looks good, smoked screen and the black brackets, short ride, nice change. When the bugs ( as in splat! ) come out I will fine tune .

I've had mine for over a year now. I don't know how I rode with out it for over 30,000 miles. The reduction of wind around the head and shoulders let me ride much further in a day due to the comfort and lower noise levels. The adjustable bracket still locks down tight. I like the the metal flysrceen and fasteners. they raise my confidence of the windscreen not ejecting durring a high speed, high wind ride.

I'm actually going to Mark's shop tomorrow (wed) morning to have him throw on the setup before I head North to NY. Can't wait to see the results.

Hats off to Mark , owner of Madstad. I rode to his shop this morning with buffetting , howling and just plain discomfort. I left his shop with his brackets , his large shield and what a tremendous 95 mile ride I had after that. Thumbs up Mark for a product that does exactly as advertised. Thanks again.

although i didn't get the madstad, i went with the other one(no peticular reason why) but to me the taller, the better. i rode my bike 600 miles the day after i bought it and i thought the whole time what a terrible mistake i made with that windscreen. right now chrisgrant has the xt's on his x and i had gone without until a couple of weeks ago. so far so good on this one going 22 miles to work. how about pics of the madstad.

I have to say the with the Madstad the air flow is much better, even better than on the BMW GSA. The wife rode with me the other night and she even said the air flow for her was great. I'll try to get some pictures this weekend.
