Taminami trail was great as was the weather. We made it down part of the keys and ate some seafood at a neat little place where they made everything, even the catsup. long day today. We got up the east side of florida about an hour and a half south of Daytona |

You guys are doing good (sense the veiled envy?) After all that interstate Suches is going to be nice! I hope Neil told you which gully not to park in. |

Yes Neil did mention it. We have done a pretty good job mixing some scenic roads with the interstate. I have to admit that the interstate is a little more interesting down here. Its not uncommon to be doing 95 mph with the flow of traffic here. At home we would get locked up for that. Traffic just goes a lot lot faster down here. Its kind of fun for us to do that too. I have a feelin that some of the poorer milage Buells are in the south. Ive been only getting 46mpg on the slab but through taminami trail + 1hour of slab I averaged 59mpg. |

RPM If you are talking about Barker's "Suck Creek" route; when you get to the end of it, you can go to Jasper on 28, or cross 28 and go down Valley View Highway to Jasper. If you have time, you can go up the mountain on 41 from there. Once you get to the top, the curves are mostly over, but you can stop and glance at Foster Falls, on the left (sign) not long after you top out. It goes on to Tracy City and back to Monteagle. OR, from Tracy City, 56 to McMinnville and on to Murfreesboro from there. Slower, but pretty country. If you don't meet up with anybody that can ride, and it's hungry time,or something goes afoul, holler. If I'm not stuck on a job somewhere, I'll find something to feed you. After typing that mess, I read your next post, you have a bit of riding before you get back this way. Depending on when you need to be back to Murfreesboro, you may be getting rushed.(that's assuming, you do manage to leave that area, you might just stay) There are lots of good ways to get there though if you have time. you could even cut through another of Barkers suggestions, up highway 30,(from I- 75, @ Athens) to Fall Creek Falls(highest falls around), and on to Murfreesboro. Thats a long ride too. So much country, so little time! If you were to end up on 64(pretty too) from Ducktown( you know, it's up by Turtletown), to Cleveland, watch for the forever wooden flume hanging on the mountain. Watch out for kayakers. They are great in the river, but pretty stupid walking in the road. They did the whitewater stuff in the Olympics there on the Ocoee River. Rotzaruck! 4237798933 |

We made it home to MN. Talk about a rude awakening, we drove through a blizzard for 4 hours and got home to see 10 inches of snow. I dont have a lot of time tonight so I will post up pics and such tomorrow. |

I hate you slept in my town and we didn't even get to meet up. I know you got in late and left early... not much to see in Cordele anyway, plus it was COLD that day, at least cold for here. Hope you enjoyed your trip! Looking forward to the pics. |

Talk about a rude awakening You should just turn around and come back. It's sixty degrees outside right now. I'm thinking about a midnight ride. I'm with Johntman, waiting on pic's,assuming you took more than one. That should be enough of a ride to fill up a thread in the Tale Section. I'm still kind of amazed at getting enough stuff for a ride like that in one little tail bag. I'm glad you broke down and brought a jacket though. |

I probabally do have enough for a tale section writeup. I dont have a lot of time to write though. I just worked 13 hours today and I work 12 tommorrow and I have a birthday party tommorrow night. I really thought I would be able to post more as I went but my phone was only posting like 30% of the time. The other 70% it would lock up and I had to start typing all over again. Thats why I kept everything short and sweet. I'm glad you broke down and brought a jacket though. Im not sure what you mean? I had that jacket all last season. I wanted to buy the stealth Icon ARC series jacket but that would have blown my budget. I'm still kind of amazed at getting enough stuff for a ride like that in one little tail bag. You would be suprised how small socks and underwear can be rolled. I rolled them real tight and then used hair binders to hold them. I sawed the handle off my hairbrush, and toothbrush. Travel sized toothpaste, travel size deoderant, razor, ziplok with Ibuprofrin, Ziplock with Qtips, floss, cell phone charger, 12 packets of Swiss miss cocoa to mix with my coffee in the morning (no I cant live without it) and a swimsuit. I had a plan that worked very well and I would do it again. I picked 3 pair of underwear that I had that were in the worst condition and 5 pair of socks also in the worst condition. I wore 2 pair of socks each of the first 2 days but the third I knew was going to be warm so only having one pair left was fine. Each day I threw 2 pair of socks away and one pair of underwear. That left me with and empty tailbag to put one longsleeve shirt and my underarmor while we went through southern Florida. On the evening of the 3rd day we hit a walmart and bought more socks and underwear. Everynight we would get a hotel with laundry. Anything else we needed washed would get done there. Here is a pic after we arrived home. The bike was frozen literally. I could not get the brakes to unlock. I slid the bike out of the truck and draggin the locked up wheels all the way onto the garage.
Here is a couple of my favorite pics from the trip. I dont have time to resize them all right now. Taminami trail

The jacket was just a reference to when I thought YOU thought you were going to be in the tropics when you got to Tennessee, you worried me, but you knew better. I am impressed with the tail bag planning. You are a planner, I'm a worrier. Not only do I have to take EVERYTHING, I have to take two in case one breaks! Mostly I'm still jealous, but thankful all went well and you are sharing it with us. A preview of springtime is a very fine thing, and I couldn't imagine a better way to get one. Ya'll come back and see us. Rotzaruck! |
