Either 2" or 2 1/2". It really doesn't matter. I don't even know if the S1s came with 2 1/2". I'm wanting a header that the rear pipe goes up over the tube frame instead of under. I think the early M2s, and S3s also have that style. | ||

the S1s didn't come with 2 1/2" until the 98 S1W and the 98 S3 also. the M2 pipe would work up until 99 (i think) when they changed the frame. the M2 pipes weren't SS either until later. i have the stock pipe from my 97 S3, i polished it! it has some repairs done to it, i'll dig it out and get some pics. i swapped it out for a 2 1/2" pipe some years ago. i'll post here when i find it. | ||

here are the pics, i spent about 14 hours hand polishing this pipe about 10 years ago, looked awesome then, needs some work now. the bracket at the collector was broken off, had it re-welded. doesn't include collars. make me an offer.     (Message edited by sleez on February 18, 2009) | ||
