and my footpeg brackets are off my bike. A friend has them in his home machine shop (he has Haas lathe and mill) where we are designing some extensions to move the passenger footpegs @ 1.5" forward and down. It's supposed to be safe to do this kind of project in February....

Almost every year, there's a February "Thaw". This year, it was very much needed. It hit 55° F here in Massachusetts today, so my wife and I rode our bikes down to Providence, RI and had some magnificent pizza at the Caserta Pizzaria. All told, we did about 150 miles; and my head is much better for having gotten out.

Bummin', Rwven, it was an awesome day to ride in Maryland. As I posted in Storm Fronts, I zig-zagged my way (on my Harley -the Uly is getting it's 10,000 mile service) up from Silver Spring to Frederick, spending a lot of time on Woodfield Road, Bethesda Church Road, and Routes 75 and 26. Didn't see any Buells, alas.

Still amazed at how many riders I saw who weren't wearing gloves. Aside from the ATGATT/saftey aspect, it wasn't THAT warm today!

Hooper - welcome to DC, Land of the Profile Rider. LOL.

I was amazed at the amount of back-patting and congratulating going on all day. Folks riding 2 or 3 miles to get to the shop, grabbing a coffee and a free hotdog, and congratulating themselves and their friends for being out "riding" in February.

They all stood in our shop for about three hours, midday. PRIME riding time. Don't stand and jaw-jack - GO RIDE.

All I could do was sit there and look at my lonely S1W sitting outside the window. Close enough to touch, but still can't ride...yet.

Four-oh-oh on the clock? MUCH different story! : ) Ahhhh....I feel better now LOL.

Same story here on the left coast. Beautiful weather--cloudless blue sky, dry roads, and temps in the 50s. No riding for me, though. I picked up a roofing nail in my rear tire last week and was still waiting for my new Pirelli to arrive. Boooo.

Rat,
Do you work at the Buell dealer here in Gaithersburg?

Hoop, you're right. I went to Gettysburg on Sat. Warm on the way there....hands freezing once I got there. Stopped by the Shamrock in Frederick thinking it would be a biker bar. Got inside....it was like an episode of Golden Girls! Quaint though, good place to stop if you have a date (or a wife)

rat bike what you described sounds like a conversation I had with my service adviser. when I asked him if he did any riding this weekend. and he commented on how much time he spent at Whitts HD.

side note he lives 5 minutes away from the shop I hope he didn't get to cold on that long ride.

Jaybird - exactly. They were talking about how amazing it was to ride in "February"...for me, it was just "Sunday", another day to ride this week : )

OKC - I work at the dealer in Frederick. Next time you need grub and want a biker place, stop a little further south. It's on the right as you go south on 15, there's actually 2 places right next to each other, about six miles south of Shamrock. One is Cactus Flats - more bar than food. Next door is Journey's, used to be Mel's Airport Inn. Little more food thrown in with the bar : ) Both are VERY biker friendly - it's actually pretty rare to see a cage in either parking lot once the season starts up. Also in Thurmont (a little south of Shamrock, but not as far as the other 2) is Cozy - very good country-style food. AWESOME fried chicken. Kinda on the edge of 'golden girls', though - think 'golden girls' meets 'beverly hillbillies' : )

Rat,
Will the dealer set up the suspension for me personally (complementary) if I buy 2 tires, etc?

OKC - if you bring your owners manual so I get it right, I'll do it myself : ) I'm off wed/thu though....
