The latest scam is quite ingenious. Recently a lot (as in millions) of people are getting micro charges on their credit cards. These are usually less than $.20 A lot of people will over look a charge that small, or figure it is too much work to report it. The scam is two part, if you get a million people for 20 cents each, that is a healthy chunk of change. At a later time they can come back and charge a serious amount to the cards that worked. |

Corporatemonkey, that scam is as old as credit cards themselves. |

You are correct, but the difference is it has never been deployed on this large of a scale. |

Taking micro-change from each transaction sounds like the scheme the office nerds cooked up in 40 Year Old Virgin! |

Alright, so when the sub routine compounds the interest, right, it uses all these extra decimal places that get rounded off. So we simplified the whole thing and we just-- we round 'em all down and drop the remainder into an account that we opened." ....it's very complicated. It's uh-- it's aggregate, so I'm talking about fractions of a penny here. And, uh, over time they add up to a lot...I'm just talking about fractions of a penny here. But we do it from a much bigger tray and we do it a couple of million times." Classic movie. It is why I cant work corporate America Ever again. |

Thats funny Mike, normally you are secure from that sort of problem, as windows shared printing never works right on your own printer, much less your neighbors It means her shared drives are published as well. From my house, up on the hill, I typically can see about 6 - 8 wireless networks, about half or which are unsecured. |
