Hope they didn't hurt the S2 badly.

This goes out to anyone in the Killeen Texas area. Looks like I'll be doing 3 or 4 months in that part of the country and I was wondering if I need to take motorcycle with me? I know we've got some Texas riders on the board and just hoping that someone is close -- riders and service/parts places. Please advise.

Art, glad to hear your bike is back, that's gotta feel sweet. Thanks for the S2 advice.

Thanks also to Jeff (Hoser) for mucho S2 info, like the engine #'s may be on the right front of the motor. I only looked on the left case below the barrels, which is where the #'s are on my S1 and S3. I'll have another look. Had no reason to doubt anything about the bike as the seller's a straight up guy. Got a few folks lookin at one of my BMW's, so I may go get that thing sooner than later.

Ferris, you've got neat kids. Sounds like yer raisin em right. "Buell good. Cage baaadd" ;) Did an archive search on S2's in the "cool pics" section and saw some stunning photo's you'd taken. WOW, nice work.

play on,
lh

Lornce, that's very nice of you to say, re: the kids AND the pix--thanks! :)

in an effort to repay you, i just went down to the garage and checked my menagerie.

the '95 S2 engine i have on the bench (bike production date: 4/95) has black barrels and heads, with the cooling fin edges machined/unpainted. the engine serial # is stamped on the left (primary) side of the engine case, just below the front barrel, and begins with *RT11S

the '96 S2 engine i have on the bench (out of the BLURR, production date 8/95) also has black barrels and heads, again with machined/unpainted fin edges, with the engine serial number in the same place as the '95, and begins with *RT11T

and fwiw, the Thong ('98 S1W, production date 6/98) has natural finish barrels, and black cyl. heads with unmachined/black fin edges. the engine serial number is in the same place as the others, and begins with *YS56W

Art, what Jim said!
Really glad to hear you got your S2 back.
I was really bummed when I saw it was stolen.
It pissed me off, I went out to the "Mens Crisis Center" and hugged my S2 just to let it know I was still thinking about it.
Gawd, I hate winter.

Let us know the details. Any damage? How about some pic's.

The S2 was damaged, apparently during the theft more than anything else. The front fairing is damaged around both mirrors, the ignition switch was gutted and replaced with a toggle switch, the kickstand is broken off. they had stolen an enclosed trailer and stole my bike, another bike, and stuffed them into the trailer without tiedowns. The bikes were damaged in the trailer because there is no road rash related scraps or anything like that. It looks like the damage is from being dropped and then slid around a wooden floor. They had put about 20 miles on my bike, some of the parts littered the floor of the trailer. The police were investigating the trailer and looked inside and viola!!! My BABY is back. I will be bringing it to SantaFeHD/Buell to have it repaired and get my Nallin kit installed. Sometimes you just gotta love the police!!! The culprits were NOT apprehended, but at least I have my BABY back and someone else has their 2003 Honda CBR back, and also the trailer was returned. The Honda had been laid down, it had rash all over the left side. My bike was in the beginning of the getting stripped stage. The corbin seat is gone, the rear belt is broken, (hmm, what were they doing to break that?) some rub marks on the tail section from the honda, and on the gas tank cover also. The turn signals, mirrors, etc are history. The insurance will be out on Tuesday to check it out, and then will deal with SantaFeHD over payment. Who cares???? I'VE GOT MY BABY BACK!!!

I don't know how to post pics or else I would...
THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR SUPPORT!

Lornce,
my numbers are on the lower left case above the primary

Has anyone out there heard of Easyriders Racing Team? I picked up a 95 S2 from the local dealership which was "Built by Easyriders Racing Team" according to the tank cover.

It would be nice to talk to someone who built/fielded the bike, as it has some external mods such as Hemi Design heads & Kooks Headers and I would like to know more about what's inside.

All the best getting her straightened out, Art. Here's hoping the perps learn to play nice.

Thanks for info re. vin #'s lads. But here's one for you serious Buell-io-files. This afternoon the owner of the S2 and I looked everywhere on that bike for a motor # and saw only a three digit number on the top side of the trans case. He had all the original owners manuals and certificate of ownership booklets complete with signature series timing cover medallion etc etc.... but no # on the engine case.

The manual contained a picture highlighting a spot on the underside of the front of the engine as the # location, but we saw nothing. The frame number was good and jived with the original factory documentation (which btw was a very nicely presented series of booklets and documents).... But where the heck is that engine #???

Anyone need a funky old BMW or Suzuki GSX-R 7/11 hooligan bike? :)

Bartimus,
Sorry to hear the bike was stolen but glad to hear it's back. If it's the same machine as pictured in your profile I've got to say it's a real nice looking ride. Hope she makes it back from the shop without any more FUBARS.

After I don’t know how many days of straight rain and high winds, the motorcycle gods shinned bright today for the Shriner’s Toy Run in Portland, Oregon.

I departed the staging area early to find a good vantage point for photographs and I found myself down on the waterfront along the parade route. This is where I happened to catch this Buelligan in fine form.

He noticed me standing in the street with my camera at the ready and the Buell hat on my head.

So with about 1500 bikes behind him, he stopped, looked up at me with the biggest grin and proceeded to smoke the rear tire!

Happy Holidays to all!

Henrik, I find my grips on my S2 a bit fat. I just installed the 04 grips off the 04 sporties and they're great. They look the same as stock and the part # for the pair is 56478-04.

Hi. There is a question about jet installation in the carb section of the thumper forum, I have the bike half taken apart but need advice before I go further, so anyone who is on right now I would hugely appreciate the help, thanks.

Ferris,

Didn't record the build date info, but the vin # begins: 4MZRT11H3S3...... Does this offer any insights? I could get the info if it's not decipherable from the above.

Neat picture. Backlit smoke always looks so cool.

thanks,
