Waiting on picking up my new 06 Uly and have question about the headlights for future modifications. What is the difference between the High beam and the low beam? sounds stupid, I know. But with the Uly, low beam always on, high beam switched on and low beam goes off. Reason being, once I get my Uly, I want to switch out to 50W HID lights for Hi and Lo. Do I need just 2 50W single beam lights then? That would make things easier. Anybody done this, LMK! |

Both headlights are the same. The difference between the 2 is the housing. The reflectors are aimed differently to give a high and low beam. Both bulbs are 55w H7. Yes you would be fine with the setup your looking at. Take a look at the Cheap HID thread thats still going on, lots of good info in there. |

Excellent. That's what I thought (different reflectors). I had bixenon HIDs in my strom (so I could have Hi and lo HIDs) but sounds like I only need single beam HID lights. I had the 35W before and they were really bright but the 50W look like the bomb! |

Just to let you know, I am sure you are aware of these facts: HID's do not like to be flashed, so many people just do the low beam bulb. Also, the headlights turn off momentarily when you press the starter, so this will count as a flash. There is a 3rd headlight line that isnt used for a European light that does not shut off, so some tap into that for the lowbeam instead. Also to note, with that setup when you flip on the high beam, the lowbeam will still be on. |
