My 06 ULY died three times today as I was riding. The first time it restarted when I recycled the key.. The 2nd and 3rd times when I cycled the key the gauges would move to the right and back but the two red lights on the dash would not light up and the starter would not engage.. after several minutes the dash lights came back on and the bike started..I replaced the BAS about 6 months ago, but on the old BAS it would always restart but with this problem no dash lights except the neutral light and no starter engagement..Is this the plug T-72 problem or whatever its called? It seems like a loose connnection..it sure is not a "happy feeling" sitting in BFE cycling the key hoping to see the dash lights come on so it will start. I need some ideas for tomorrow, as its beer time now, after today...

Have you put a washer under your battery terminal bolts yet? That connection can do that. And check the ground wires behind the headlights.

Mine did this awhile ago - left me stranded a mile from home (thankfully close) after conking out a few times along the way

I think it was because they dealer had taken the extra washers off of the battery terminals when I had them do a 5k service. I had put them there at the recommendation of some BadWeb friends, who explained that the terminals may be too long and would not provide a clean connection. I put the washers back on, and it's never done it again.

Now, about that beer...

I have the GPS and the Battery Tender eyelets under the battery bolts ..I would think that would be enough to space the bolts but I will check.. I would think that if it was a bad battery connection that the guages would not have worked and the neutral light on the dash would not have lit up... It starts great in the garage...of course.......the beer was goood...

I tried to recreate the non starting situation by disconnecting the two ground wires behind the headlight..it would start..I loosened both battery cables up so the bolts was barely in the threads and it would start...and I turned the BAS upside down and the starter would engage but the bike would not start of course.....yesterday the dash lights would not come on and the starter would not engage after the motor died when I was riding under 20 mph. After it sat for a few minutes the dash lights would pop on and the starter would work. I am thinking it is somewhere in the wiring/plugs behind the countershaft cover. Any more ideas?...
