Well after quite some time I finally got the Uly put back together and out for the first test ride. Still waiting on a a few plastic parts that should arrive next week to finish off the project. Basically did the following: * Rotated the motor and pulled off the cam cover and primary cover along with the side rails, tail section wheels and rear sprocket and sent them all off for powder coating. Color is a dark moss green / black metallic and the wheels are accented with a psycho lime on a silver base. * Jet hot headers * Lined the fuel rail/frame with Thermotec * Built a Thermotec duct for the cooling fan * Mounted new Pirelli Corsa III with Dyna Bead balance * Popped in a couple of Iridium plugs * Custom points cover Once I get all the painted parts back it should be sweet. Runs great and fired right up after have mucho parts pulled off after the last few months. Only went on a short spin but I do belive the Thermotec fan duct is going to work real well. When I shut the bike down the fan came on and forced a strong flow of air out the rear at the flap area in the picture. It will be interesting to test the set up in an extended ride. Really like the powder coat color. The pictures don't really show the color very well. A tribute bike scheme to a bunch of "things".....

That's a Buell Race pipe....matches up real nice with the headers. I expect rider heat to be much reduced with the Jet Hot headers, Thermotec lined frame/tank and the prototype fan duct. Once I install the new Odie Blankets that should just about maximize the efforts to reduce heat transfer through the seat and right side. I've been riding by 1968 BMW R69s for last few months as I finished this project up. I had forgotten just how powerful/tourquey the Uly is right off of idle. Right back to power wheelies... |
