On longer rides my ass really gets hot. My right leg is okay, I just move it a few inches away from the frame, and I'm fine. But damn, my butt sure gets hot. Thank goodness there are no important valuable electronics of any type under the seat, 'cause man, it sure do get hot.

Any way, I ordered the BeadRider seat beads and wanted to know if a foil kit from Buell was available, or the type of foil to use, and also, are there areas not to cover under the seat for clearance or other issues.

Thanks
John

I used http://www.thermotec.com/adhesive-backed-heat-barr ier.html. Works great.

I also put a flap from the right side of the frame to cover the gap between the seat and frame.

I was using Odies heat blankets, great product and it works well. Did a trip with the beadrider on the seat and noticed no heat. Got back and took Odie's blankets off, did another trip with no hot seat. The beads look a little different but they work.

Wear bike shorts and/or stand up once in a while.

A healthy dose of Gold Bond powder also does wonders. Plus when riding in my perforated riding pants I like to stand up and while riding and let out a lil powder puff once in a while.

Thermotec it is ... thank you for the replies.

My only concern, though, is that the foil will reflect the heat onto the electronics....oh well.

I run Odie's heat blankets and love them. Then on long rides I made my own beaded seat (spent $8.88 at Wally World for a "cabbie" beaded seat cover and used some old fishing line I had). Works great for long rides.

I haven't tried the Thermotec stuff yet, as I found Odie's product to fix every complaint I had.

Has anyone who installed the right side air scoop noticed any difference in the heat department ? If it actually does cool the rear cyl shouldnt it also reduce the thermal radiation from down under ???

John,
I too had a heat issue on my ULY during the long trip that I just returned from. But the heat was felt on my back. Could not find the source until I turned around... source was quickly identified and after a quick stop the heat dissipated... at least for a while.

Source of the heat on my back...

Not sure a scoop would help much with that...

jb2607;

A scoop wouldn't help with that heat, man that would take two scoops!
