I used the search function first and didn't find exactly what I was looking for.

If you have a Zumo mounted on your Firebolt could you let me know how you did it? Did you use the stuff that comes with the Zumo? Buy other accessories?

Did you mount it to the bar? Somewhere else? HAS ANYONE FOUND ANY SORT OF STEM MOUNT FOR THE ZUMO ON THE 'BOLT?

Has anyone Stem-mounted any type of anything to any type of Buell?

What are the options for using the stem?

Is it hollow all the way through the center?

If not hollow all the way through, can the topmost surface (top of the stem nut?) be drilled and tapped to a reasonable depth for a mounting? If yes, then there are some RAM mounting balls that have threaded shanks.

If you can drill and tap the top of the stem nut to a reasonable depth, you could screw the mounting ball on to the top of the stem and just leave it there all the time.

The mount that comes with the zumo is a RAM mount and it would be able to clamp onto the ball mount on the stem nut.

RAM makes cradles for a number of devices and having that mount there would give you some options for mounting other or maybe even multiple devices.

The RAM mounts are very modular and versatile, if you browse the various RAM catalogs and identify the bits and pieces that will let you work out a mount.

We got a guy here that is a good machinist, he could probably do the drilling and tapping work for you for a nominal fee.

This is a question that has come up before, there may even be a small market for someone to modify a few of these and then sell them on an exchange basis. You send them your stock stem nut and some money and get a modified part back.

Did a Yahoo search on RAM stem mount. Here is one source. The item is down the page a way.

Thanks for your help guys. I think I'll end up using this (link below). There isn't much room on the Firebolt and I can't determine for sure which of the stem systems will/would/might work with my bike.

I have a Zumo mounted on my Firebolt using one of the techmounts. It works great, but I have two minor complaints. First, the joints have balls that are much smaller than a traditional RAM mount and it's harder to lock into place because of this. Second, it adjusts using 4 different sized hex wrenches. Not a huge deal once you get it on the bike, but because it's harder to lock down already, you may need to retighten it every so often.

I've had it for a couple months and overall I'm very happy with it. It looks very nice on the bike also. I purchased a second one also so that I can mount other accessories like my cellphone, ipod, or radar detector.
