I have an 08 XT and I'm think about opening up the airbox a little. I'd like to get my map changed when they become available and perhaps go to an oiled filter.
My question is whether or not the stock exhaust can accept the increased flow? I had a race ECM and dual tip pipe on my 07 and the noise level was unacceptable.

Sure it can, the exhaust makes more of a difference than the airbox. But it's even louder (for the rider) with with the airbox opened up because you're listening to the engine through the throttle body.

Just drill a few strategically located 1" holes in the air box cover. No noise increase!
