I have been fairly underwhelmed by the quality of the standard Buell Tank Bag and understand the Deluxe not to be much better. Are there any other bags others are using with success? The zippers on the Buell bag are abysmal, the rain fly billows regardless of what you do with it, and the top angle makes reading anything in the clear map pocket untenable. Thanks. |

I've had a similar experience with my Buell tank bag. I used to have a Wolfman bag on my last KTM. It was very well made and I would highly recommend it. Speaking of which, I need to head over to their website and see what's new. http://www.wolfmanluggage.com/ Hmm, I believe that there's a "Peak tail bag" in my future. I think that I'll forgo the tank bag at this time (Message edited by vagabond on June 01, 2008) |

I have a Rapid Transit (www.rapid-transit.com) Abrahms. It's small and fits the XB tank perfectly. For Badness, I managed to keep all my pocket stuff in there, my MP3 player, glasses, map in the window, cell, etc. The rain fly is attached and tucks into a pocket in the front. There's a sunglass pocket lined with soft material inside. On the back there's a small port for an mp3 player with fits my largish Zune (in the acrylic case) without any complaints. The only complaint is with the Buell as I had to use the rear shock as the rear anchor under the seat. The front nylon attachment strap got burned off the other day when I took the bag off and mistakenly let the strap lay against the exhaust... Not complaints with the bag though. Just need to be careful with the bike... |

Ft, I recently picked up a Nelson Rigg CL-650 from New Enough. So far, it seems to be a quality bag...a real Regal Nad, if you will. The zippers are heavy duty, and it comes with a nice rain cover, although I haven't had to use it yet. http://www.newenoughhp.com/closeouts/luggage/nelson_rigg/cl650_expandable_motorcycle_tank_bag.html http://www.nelsonrigg.com/pages/Sport-Touring-Products/CL650-Big.htm I didn't really like the way the instructions said to mount the bag (kinda sounds like the way Thumper's mounts) so I made my own mounting system similar to the way the Buell bags mount. I used all the clips and webbing that came with the bag, and bought a 3/8" grommet kit from the local hardware store.
After the home made "fix", the bag fits tight like a tiger. It doesn't really hug the contour of the air box, but that allows it (and the map pocket) to sit fairly level. All in all, considering the price is about a third of similar bags, it's been a good purchase.

Tried to post earlier but it didn't work... I've got a Cortech mini bag, or maybe it's micro mini, or maybe super mini... I forget the exact model... ...they don't make many non magnetic bags... ... anyway it's worked well for me for basics on my trips, have not tried out the rain cover yet though. I'm using it on a tuber so others' experience with xb frames may not be the same. |

I use a Marsee "19 Liter Rocket Pocket" which, despite its questionable name, has been great. The rain cover billows but can be tied down to minimize it, and it's fairly waterproof without it anyway. Usually fits all I need without having to expand it. I think they might be discontinued, got mine on ebay for $70 or so. http://www.derbycycles.com/cgi-bin/eShop/index.cgi ?cart_id=5518534.38703&pid=115&product=Marsee_Prod ucts&count=1 |
