Hi guys here is what I would do to the ulysses for lights www.starrotors.com has the cheapest digital H I D lights and I have the 8500k which is not as brights as 6000k but is more bluer,

the higher the number the bluer the light but less light,

the digital lights have the smallest ballest and I got four for my 1125r from starrotor and only paid 250.00

I do not have the digital ones on my ulysses but have them on my 1125R,

the digital lights put out a more of an even color and are 15% brighter and quicker to full output,

I have the non digital with the big boxes and had them behind the fairing on the ulysses but then moved them to under the seat, but if you get digital it is real easy to do it under the front plate,

now there is another hid light called hellfire and real small made for dirt riding and attach to the handlebars and www.aerostich has them but you can find them cheaper,

they mount to the handlebars and I have them mounted to the turn signals and they have ones that can mount to your helmet.

HID is the way to go I have them set up to run both on in the day time and really stick out from the other headlights,

at night the light is awesome and you have to be carefull not to blind someone.

Mike, thanks for the info. Looks like a good deal for upgrading the Uly lights.

Rode my new ULY home from the dealer a couple weeks ago and noticed right away that drivers didn't see me coming as easily as they did when riding my V-Strom. Hopefully I have remedied this by adding a couple small driving lights. Since they are small and light I just hung them from the lower handguard mounts. The switch isn't really weather proof so I tucked it inside the left side handguard.
I'm sure these pale in comparison to the HID but the forward visibility is all I am after right now.
