Has anyone performed this bit of interesting surgery? You would have to machine off the spot for the ignition. I wonder if there would be any clearance issues? Anyone? Anyone? Never Give Up! http://www.helibars.com/proddetail.php?prod=HC0301 (Message edited by xb9srider on May 09, 2008) |

I have seen a similar setup on an S model at my work but couldn't tell you if it was Heli bars or not. Only one thing I noticed about them is that it made the bars wider apart by at least two inches. But still had a good lean forward position like the Firebolt but not as aggressive as the stock riding position. If he comes back in the shop i'll ask about them. If your wondering if they make a top triple you should call them. 800-859-4642 |

This can be done Look for the threads where people take an S and convert the front to an R. That will show you exactly what you need to do to relocate the ignition. So you can have your cake and eat it too.

BTW I used to have an S and now have an R with the Heli Bars For me, being 5'5" tall it is the perfect riding position. The stock Firebolt clip on location was a little too far of a reach for me. Low speed turns where you didn't counter steer were a little uncomfortable. I felt like I wasnt stable because I was leaning too much. If I had slightly longer arms, it wouldnt be an issue. The Heli bars brings the reach back just enough but not too much. Performance wise, it lines the Clip ons right with the forks so the turning gets more flickability. Definately a great product especially for us height challenged folks |

Thanks fella's! I think I would just machine that ignition piece off. I want to keep the rest of the front end as it is (stock). I don't mind the Crossroads, but would prefer this, even if it meant a little extra work. Ride safe. Never Give Up! |
