Sooooo the service manual sez to remove the muffler in order to remove the sidestand bracket. Anychance one could pull it off with muffler in place .... or should I not be lazy and just do the right thing? (muffler could use some paint anyways....) |

Take it off. The risk is you may cross thread a bolt going back in. It only takes a few minutes to remove the muffler. You don't need to remove the tensioner to remove the muffler contrary to what the manual says. |

Ken, Orangeulius and I didn't take it off and had no trouble removing his muffler. Also didn't remove the tensioner. Also, didn't replace the clamps. I've found much of the manual is a "technician/dealership benefits package." I guess Thunderbox took it off just for good measure. Otherwise, he wouldn't have recommended it, would he? |

hiya Gotj Good to hear from you...heard you fellas have found a new road..... I just 'discovered' Route 39 here in southern WV into Va, it is quite purdy too....kinda reminds me of the shortcut between Joyce Kilmer and 129, just a wee bit tighter in spots, and it goes on and on and on. I think my sidestand farkle may have to wait while work takes centerstage. |
