Before I make the plunge on making the investment on my hard luggage, I’d like your thoughts on the following.

1. What’s been your experience with doing business with Twisted Throttle? Pricing, shipping time, customer service, etc.
2. I am leaning towards the following setup: Fehling side-case rack and Givi E36N luggage cases. I like the classic looks of it and price seems reasonable. I’m also tempted on the larger version, E45N – but I think it might be too bulky and get in the way for the passenger. Any input would be appreciated.
3. Where have you found the best deals on buying what I’m leaning towards? Suggestions are welcomed.

I think the Buell stock cases look great but I’ve owned Givi in the past – good experience. I realize the luggage discussion might be an old one but I wanted to tap this forum on your experiences with the few options that are out there for us.

Basically, I want a good luggage system that will last, reasonably priced, will fit my helmet, don’t interfere with passenger comfort and don’t make the bike wide as a car.

Any and all helpful input would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Nick

Just put on the Fehling topcase rack and a Givi V46 topcase. Excellent fit on the rack and upped from the original plan of the E35 topcase to the 46 to make room for her helmet and add more space for groceries etc. Got it all from Twisted Throttle and very happy with their service. No pics yet but can snap some tomorrow.

Several purchases from Twisted Throttle. They are a good outfit from my experience. I have stock bags so cannot answer any of the other questions.

Twisted T is a very good company.

I had Givi's on my BMW for about 11 mths and sold them for top loading aluminium panniers ... IMHO much more convienent and sturdy : )

Twisted Throttle is good on the sales front, return/exchange process is fair to poor.

The Fehling rack is a great choice.

Now I know where all the Fehling rags are gone.
I ordered them 2 month ago and received a call, they where unable to deliver in a decent time. I canceled my order and bought the Buell ones. Ordered them trough Chicago Harley. Even with $233,- in shipping, I saved @ $300,- compared to the price over here. Installed them yesterday. It was a snap. But I regret buying them, because the bike has a fat rear end now.
For the same price I could have got Touratech bags including the bracket.
Sometimes life is a b....
Ride safe Werner

if i had to do it over again recommend something else than buell bags . granted they hold alot of stuff but, i've had to replace both latches on them, poor latch design.

Thank you for all the helpful input. I'm planning a 2K soon - all your advice is appreciated. I'm open for more advice before I plunk down my wad of cash.

I hate the Buell luggage. I think it's cheap and doesn't work as well as it should.

I like the stock luggage. It keeps the rain out and has enough volume to carry everything I'd want to carry on a motorcycle. Mine has worked fine.

What volume are the standard Buell hard cases?

43 liters each for the side bags and 40 liters for the trunk.

I just had the stock luggage installed a week ago, so it may be too early to tell. That said, I really like the look and mechanics of the Buell luggage. They can carry lots of goodies and are in no way interfering with my gf when she rides with me. They were a tad spendy though and you might be able to find a better deal somewhere else. Givi would be a great option to go with.

Givi luggage pictures in this string. I think they look great and will not have the problems the Buell/H and B luggage seems to have.

Update: I spoke with Brian at TT today; he was very friendly and knowledgeable. I am leaning towards the Fehling + GIVI E36N. I like the classic looks, price seems reasonable. (Do I really have to relocate my rear turn signals? It makes it look, so damn, well, kind of unfinished!) Current contenders are the following:

GIVI E360 or
GIVI E41 (Very nice feature of the extra combo lock hatch)

My initial requirements remain but I think I’m getting closer to making a decision.

I’ve also found another interesting option from Happy Trail. But opting against it for aesthetics; then again, it’s hard to say as there is only a single photo (worst angle, from the rear) I could find of it mounted on the Ulysses.

I might have been more tempted on the Touratech offering if it didn't cost a small fortune and offered a decent locking mechanism (opened with a coin or screwdriver + cost to purchase locks from them + plus an installation cost + anything else???).

I am intrigued on the HB Alu threads – i.e. making it work using a stock rack. Problem, it appears that you 1) Need to be able to purchase the stock racks from Buell (called my dealer to confirm that you could not) 2) Need to be an expert welder to modify the stock rack. It’s out. I have to say, the case really appealed to me – and I might have ordered today had I been able to find a mounting kit. Here’s a picture: http://www.twistedthrottle.com/trade/productview/6 37/335/

So, there’s my update – my deliberation continues and making progress.

Thanks,

Nick

P.S. My 2K (each way) looms close; my time for deliberation nears to an end soon. Any and all additional helpful input – welcomed, still.
