My 07 XB12Scg started running poorly,(cutting-out, severe power loss, etc) after I participated in the BUELL DEMO day. I think the bike got jealous Dropped it off at the dealer and it turns out that the O2 sensor is bad. The worst part is the sensor is on back order and I was quoted 7-10 days. What is the normal life span for an O2 sensor? |

What is the normal life span for an O2 sensor? It depends. I have seen them last well over 100k, I have also seen them go bad after a much shorter interval. Generally, 6k would be considered a premature failure. It may have just been a faulty sensor... it happens. The O2 sensor can also be damaged by contamination, or impact. |

I got an o2 sensor at an autoparts store for my S3. For the Tubers anyway, they were an off the shelf part. You might do a search and maybe the XB sensor is also available at any NAPA for 1/2 the money and always in stock. It was easy to change too, NAPA sold be a special socket for $9.00 and it just plugs in... |

His bike should still be under warranty though... who wants to spend money when you don't have to. |
