With the seat off, I see a rubber vent line coming from underneath the airbox and secured to the top of the shock by a plastic tie. What is this venting and why would it vent directly over the shock/fan?

I believe you are referring to the transmission vent : )

Uh, so what exactly would it be venting and why would it be venting onto the fan and shock?
