I recently bought a new Ulysses XT from Gainesville Harley Davidson and Buell. Several hundred miles after the initial break-in and service, the check engine light came on. Despite some difficulties getting their diagnostic tool to work with the bike they were able to identify the problem, a failed servo motor in the interactive exhaust. Even though Kevin at GHD&B had to spend time on the phone with Buell to get the diagnostics going GHD&B had me back on the bike a day later. They used the part from another '08 they had in order to get me up and running quickly-- something suggested as a solution to a similar problem on another thread here, and I didn't even have to ask. Just thought it would be good to acknowledge a dealership that is doing things right. Cheers, Bob |

i had my m2 in there a number of years ago when i was working up there and even then they seemed to be buell friendly and now that you got paul getting involved their, it should turn out to be a good store. |

I think the thread you were referring to was the CEL issue I had with my XT and my dealer "had to order" a new O2 sensor. In all fairness to them, I didn't think to ask them to take it off another bike they had in stock but it would've been nice if they'd offered to to that. (Instead, I was without my bike for 6 days.) I'm going to send a copy of this thread to my salesperson and see what (if any) response I get. If I get no response, I'll comment it on my new owner survey. THAT will get a response. Glad to know that at least some dealers are going above and beyond. |

I just picked up my used '08 Uly today. The bike had 414 miles on it when I bought it this morning and the seller said it'd already been back to the dealer for this exact same issue. Tipsy |

My new XT is getting towed back to the dealer today for an engine light issue...I'll let everyone know what they say...seems like an epidemic issue for a lot of the new XTs on this board. (Message edited by djm on April 18, 2008) |

Kudos to Gainesville, glad to hear there are other dealers out there who do stuff like that I'll have to check to see if the '08 muffler is different from the 06/07. It sure sounds different, but I'm not sure if it's from the new ignition setup or if the muffler itself was changed. I think it'd make a nice change to my '06 to get a very slight bit more growl out of it.... |

Nice to see such a response to this thread. I'll pass it on to GHDB. Towjam "Your Check Engine Light must be broken."--Good one! It was indeed your thread I referred to. It does seem a fair number of people are getting trouble codes, but the issues seem minor if annoying. At least the CEL is catching stuff so we can get it fixed. I'm loving my bike and suspect it will rival or surpass the original Uly as BMC's best-seller. Djm--black is still the fastest color. Bob |

It does seem like a rash of Check Engine lights. Mine ('07 Uly) came on at 3200 miles (3 weeks after buying it). It was some exhaust adjustment. Wayne |
