I just bought a Uly on 3/13/08 from Raleigh's Ray Price. Got a decent deal, fair I believe for both me and them. Started out finding money for luggage, now I got that coming. Other than a taller windshield and lower seat, any other good touring mods that need to be made pretty quick? BTW, anyone around Raleigh or Fayetteville that wants to ride let me know.

As for good touring mods I started with getting rid of the ape hangers and I'm hoping that my PIAA 510's get here tonight so that I can install them. I'll post pics when its done.

Congrats on your purchase!

And I'd like to see a picture of a Uly with ape hangers. That'd be a different ride.

Congrats on the new ride! Great choice on the color as well.

Is the Buell decal on the tank stock?? I like that one much better than mine (also orange).

The only thing that that bike needs is mileage. Take it out and ride the piss out of it. Once you get 10,000 miles on it, then think of what changes you want to make. It will be obvious to you. The changes that work for me may not work for you.
Come to Homecoming in July. You'll see all kinds of Buells with all kind of modifications. Not only will you have a Great Time, it's almost a certainty that you'll see at least one neat change that you want to make to your bike.
The Uly is one of the most enjoyable motorcycles I've ever owned. I hope you like yours as much as I like mine.

One of the most valuable touring mods that I have is a good GPS that's properly mounted and hardwired to the motorcycle. Buy as much as you can afford; the features are fantastic.

Other than not getting lost and eliminating th need to deal with paper maps, a device like this can help you:

1. Plan gas stops when you're in unfamiliar territory
2. (with the proper subscriptions) Avoid traffic jams and hazardously crowded roads
3. (with the proper subscriptions) Avoid inadvertently riding into hazardous weather
4. (with the proper subscriptions) Receive hundreds of channels of high quality music for those rides across rural Kansas.

In addition to the hard bags (that you already have) a good tankbag is also a nice addition for touring.

I'd recommend the Zero Gravity (smaller) or Parabellum (larger) windshields depending on the amount of protection you feel you need.

If you don't have an 08, retrofitting the OEM heated grips would be a nice touch.

Some add auxiliary lighting, but I try to be in the shed at or by dusk.

Congratulations on your new bike - You can rest assured that you're riding the brand of cycle that generates the most smiles per mile bar none.

Looks like you need some good boots too. I recommend that to be your first purchase.

Combat Touring Boots would fit the bill.

This was just a "posing" pic. I do ride ATGATT whenever I can. I have boots out the yinyang so I dont need to buy anymore. The tennis shoes only go on the Uly when I am in a hurry or cant find my boots! Kids do hide things. As for the faster color and haircut, the color was by choice, it was black, and the haircut isnt a choice.
