Sorry if this has been addressed ad nauseam.

I have installed some PIAA 510's on the 08' Uly, I ran 2 cables directly from the battery to under the cowl, I then spliced these into the PIAA harness.

If you are familiar with the PIAA harness they give you an inline fuse and a relay, pretty sweet, they also give you a nice little push button switch.

This switch needs to be wired to a "switched" power source. Giving me power only when the key is "on".

I have seen other installs on here where people spliced this switch into the accessory plug outlet up front, so I followed suit. Much to my surprise though I get no power to the switch when I turn the key on.

So in a long round about way, my questions is this: Do the accessory plugs only have power when the bike is actually running?

I plugged in my car phone charger and turned the key to on and there was no power to either the front or rear accessory plug. (A pretty hi-tech way to check if I do say so myself)

Please bear with me as I am in Wisconsin, I bought the bike in December, and haven't even put 100' on it. I have it taken apart so I didn't want to start it to see. And I guess if this is the case it isn't the end of the world if I can only run the lights with the bike running.

The accessory ports are only powered when the key is set to on, or I also believe in parking light mode. Either way, it should be on when the key is set to on, you don't need the bike to be running. I would check the fuse under the seat, perhaps you blew it already. : )

Thanks Froggy, I wondered, (last night laying in bed) if I hadn't indeed blown a fuse, I will be checking that tonight when I get home from work. I need to remember to K.I.S.S. when I do these things.
