Anyone have pics of Full Fairing XB's? Not many out there to view. Also if you own one, did you notice any over heating problems at all?

I have one. Don't have a current pic of it. And it still needs paint so it don't look too good. I noticed some extra heat after adding it. Wouldn't call it a problem except where it vents out onto your right leg as that is the only real opening for it to get out. Over the winter I added a heat shield under the seat and wrapped the header. I'll let you know in a few more months if it helped the leg. As far as how it ran, i didn't notice a change at all.

A friend of mine had one with a full fairing. His bike would outrun mine (same bike) with the throttle to the stop in 5th on the highways. Aerodynamics aint no joke.

I've seen that white one before!

I'm trying to remember where......oh yeah, my garage! It does sit as little lower now though
since I swapped out the suspension for SCG parts.

No problems with overheating. I did wrap the header, but that was as much or more to protect the
fiberglass from being burned as it was to reduce heat to me. I put a heat shield under my seat to
keep from roasting my walnuts when in town, but I don't spend a lot of time sitting still on the bike.

Don't worry about heat. My bike is running higher compression (11.43:1) and a 1250 so if any 'bolt
would run hot with the fairing mine would. I have no fears taking my 'bolt anywhere...at least in
the day time, but I'll be resolving that issue soon.

Ciccotto's bike (Hal's 13) was the first time I had seen the Zero Gravity Sport Touring windscreen and those images show it to good effect. It does the job of streamlining, not just looking good with no rider on the bike. I'd never put a double bubble or stock screen back on the bike after riding behind the Sport Touring.

We started the seasion using an Ermax double screen but found the Zero Gravity ST screen much better, especially for taller riders.

Seat unit was swapped for the GSXR1000 K4 unit for similar reasons as it gave much more room to slide back on the seat and get behind the screen.

Theres a Race version and street version. The street version has the headlight holes in it already.

Diablobrian
Yours is the very first Full Fairing XB that I saw with the one exception the XBRR.
Love your bike Brian.

One last question.
Is there a company that makes the Full Fairing with the Head Light Bezels indent around the headlights? Saw the Sharkskins , it didnt have it. No bezel kinda makes the bike look plain to me. Headlights also look to close together.
THANKS AGAIN EVERYONE, VERY NICE BIKES.

Sweet, found a kit that has the headlight section cutout. http://www.halspa.com/PartDetail.asp?P=639

little pricey though.

Trojan that bike looks great.

You would never know it started off as a ULY but the frame is a dead give away.

Thank you sir : ) We found that the extra wheelbase of the Uly made it an even better race bike than the original XB12R we had. Handling was just as sharp but more stable and the extra physical size was better for Phil as a tall rider. Once we'd thrown away most of the Uly bits we had the weight down to 185kg including fuel & oil too : )

DiabloBrian,
How difficult was the scg suspension swap. I have pondering doing so. I really like the way my buddy's scg feel when I sit on it. How much did it cost roughly?

Thanks

Trojan, that is the most amazing Buell I have ever seen. Are those R6 forks/brakes/wheel on the front?

I cant help but wonder how twisted a Uly would look w/o the suspension drop while wearing full body kit.

They are 2003 R1 forks/wheel/brakes.

Exactly what we found : ) We had the triple trees made by a local firm who normally make full size steam engines! Not a CNC machine in sight. We took the original R1 and Buell trees to them and they combined the offset of the Buell items with the dimensions of the R1. Any decent engineering firms should be able to do the job. You won't regret it ;)

trojan, did you notice any difference in the turn in or standing up under brakes?

why did you not go for radial brakes?

i've been told be one race team that all i need is to up grade the master to a radial, how would that fix my rotor and pads getting cooked by the end of a race? it doesn't make any sense to me.

sharkskinz makes a street version with the headlight bezel indents and holes.

The SCG swap is simple since the forks on the 03-04 bikes are all 41mm. Just had to suspend
bike from my garage ceiling joists and remove forks, shock and kickstand (important!). It cost
me only the gas to drive to a badwebbers house that had an scg willing to swap and then back to
my house.

Total time wrenching: about an hour including suspending and lowering bike.

If you post up a thread you may find a badwebber semi-local to you that is willing to
do a swap straight across, or it may cost you shipping for both sets of parts. If you want
to do it I'd start asking now because winter will be over soon and it can take a bit to put
one of these deals together...especially if you don't want to spend excessive $$$$$

I'm not the only badwebber that has managed to find a partner to swap with so it can be
done! This is the BEST group of riders/people that I have ever been allowed to
associate with

I looked and didn't find one. Only one I found didn't have the Bezel indents only the headlight holes.
Would you possibly have a link?
I know I said last question but one more came up.

I can't get the link to work, but Hal's is THE outlet for the sharkskinz fairings in the US.

HalsPA.com is the website. Call them up and ask about it, they'll be happy to help you out.

If they give you any trouble "ve haff vays auf making dem talk"

I have the street version on my bike, in fact if you get on the Hal's site and see the
bike in grey primer that they model the bodywork on....once again it's my bike.

I really love having such a distinctive bike, I'll never pull up to a stop light and have
an identical bike pull up next to me with this one, especially after all the tweaking
that's been done.

As far as questions...ask away, I don't have any problem answering any questions I know the
answer to.

The "R" looks so much better with the full fairing. Why didn't Buell do this from the start? Cooling issues?

Can you still buy those huge "Buell Racing" decals?

I will go thru Hals when I get the funds to do the Fairing.

I couldn't give you an honest correct answer so hopefully someone will get back to you. But the R's do look so nice with the Full Fairing.

Mine is the Hal's kit shown above, it does have the headlight indents. Install was brain dead easy. The only real time consuming thing was trimming around the tailpipe outlet. I wanted it to look just right. A lot of put it on and mark it, take it off and shave, rinse and repeat. The big Buell Racing decals would be killer!
