I mistook your "I'm taking it to Bonneville this year" statement to mean that you were taking it to Bonneville this year. Well, I just have to make this observation: This is page 31 of this thread, and unless somebody jumps the gun on me whilst I type, this is post #920, all generated in 27 days. (An average 34.074074074074074074074074074074 posts per day.) You can argue with Rocket all you wish, but I think it would be hard to argue against this evidence that folks are attracted to his unique personality, which could only be described as magnetic. My other observation is that the construction site monster is sorely lacking one important ingredient: not one single portion of a 2x4 is used. (It worked on Morgans.)  Capt. Well Pete, the google (not Google,lol) eye thing is burnt out at last, though I'll never be quite as pretty as I was beforehand. A couple of months before Christmas I had minor surgery on the right eye. The bottom lid had dropped, which meant you could see more of the eye than normal. They basically put a small cut in the corner of the eye, nip the corners together with a few stitches, which pulls the lids tight back together, and you're done. It's a bloody sharp pair of needles they stick over and under your eye for the local anesthetic though, and don't ask about stitch removal. I just feel sorry for the elderly folks who have this minor surgery. It only hurts for a few minutes, but by heck does it bloody hurt! Anyway, my eyes will never go all the way back into my head, which means the left is 2mm and the right 3mm proud, but at least I don't wake up with the worst hangover in the world nearly everyday. That for me was the terrible part. I mean, the double vision got better after you'd been awake an hour or so. The bloodshot and the swelling was uncomfortable for two years. But to not be able to close your eyes properly, in particular my right one, has your tear duct constantly weeping whilst you're sleeping. Everyday I'd wake up with the pillow sopping wet through, and that's not an exaggeration, and a hangover from hell because of the dehydration. Frankly it was a shit time, and it's an illness that incapacitates you and puts your life on hold for at least two years. No energy. No get-up and go. Just real lethargy creeps over you. You think you will never get back to normal either, but thankfully you do, and I'm pretty much as normal now as I'm ever going to be, lol. A massive thanks is due to the absolutely magnificent health care I've had. Really the most wonderful caring people doing amazing work. Now if only I could remember those gear ratio sums for Jack  Rocket | ||

"I'm pretty much as normal now as I'm ever going to be," Normal, being a relative term I'm sure...  I just had my first opportunity to see(in the flesh) the 1125. I must say that I liked it. Of course it was wedged closely in with a pile of other Buells. But my first impression was "cool". I wouldn't mind having one. You're not going to believe this, Pammy, but while I was working on the post above I was at the same time wondering if you guys had had a chance to get a look at one yet. I almost posted something to that effect over on your sponsor thread. But to be honest, I was thinking more in terms of looking at the innards of that engine to see if there was any wiggle room inside. I'd love to hear Wes's comments about how the "air pumping" capabilities looked to his "artistic" eye. (I try to be a realist, and that's why I said "hear," for I know I'd never read them.) Pete, I just happened up on one yesterday. It was squoze in so tightly with some other bikes that I nearly had to crawl around on my hands and knees to get a proper look at some stuff. It might reach 1000 but we need to keep the argument going to be valid. So.... in that spirit... Was the tach light incorporated into the needle due to restraints (no room left on the dash?) or was it designed that way from the get go?  |
