I thought motard racing involved both pavement and dirt.

They are talking about racing the Ducati Hypermotard bike (cool clip, thanks for the link). Motard racing is usually called SuperMoto when it's the dirt and road course combo you are referring to.

1. Motard

Short for Supermotard, a synonym for Supermoto. This is a type of motorcycle racing that places motocross-style bikes on combination tarmac/dirt courses.

The wheel-to-wheel action of Motard racing has been very popular in Europe since the mid-80's.

There was just an unnecessary space in the title. It was supposed to be Hypermotard racing Buells. Nothing to do with a motard race.

Someone should campaign a Uly against it. Long suspension travel and high clearance. Would be interesting. I know of a great pilot, runs around here under the name of Wolfridgerider. Shoulda seen em in West Virginia! He'd gun em down!
