Frank...Didn't really address the sport tourer issue so here goes...MCN just compared the FJR, ST and GT and that's the finishing order...The GT has a severe range limitation which is really surprising for a beemer and the performance of the FJR kicked ass...They even preferred the non-ABS brakes over the ST's...The 2004 FJR will apparently have ABS and address all the little things like the screen size and the only other item on my wish list for either the FJR or ST would be the cruise control that's only available on the GT...Isn't that the way it always is?...Still no "perfect" scooter out there...

See Ya!

Sam...Looks like we'll need dog sleds or figure a way to attach a hack...I rode yesterday until the roads started to freeze up but to Waterloo would be a bit much...John's back is out so we'll probably be in a cage no matter the weather...Now that I think about it, I don't know whether he said he's going or not...I'll have to ask...Anyone else here thinking of going up to Waterloo next Sat?...

See Ya!

Racer if you could post by Friday a head count for Dave he'd like to know. He's getting together some special door prizes for us for making the trip. Not key chains either. Hint hint. Right Dave!? Maybe some cool Trojan Horse parts, maybe!

I guess there is going to be an AMA flattrack race in Quincy during the Harley rally. This was in our local paper yesterday.

Quincy tourism calendar has several new events

"Other new events for Quincy include the Illinois State Harley Owners Group Convention June 6-8, the AMA Flat Track Motorcycle races on June 6,"

Anyone interested in coming up for this event, let me know

Keith

Any well stocked M/C shop should have them in stock. They make them to fit some helmets specifically and a universal model. They are available in clear and colors I think. Be sure to have the original shield spotless before applying the Fog City shield. Take your time to make sure it is exactly where you want it before you make contact with it. Once you do, it is on for keeps. I have taken old ones off after they were scratched up but they leave a "ring" of residue on the original. Also, they suck at night. The oncoming lights will have a halo. If you are riding in cold or wet conditions, they are the cat's meow.

Here is a pic and some info on it.

fog city pic

What is the Fog City Fog Shield?
The Fog City Fog Shield is not a face shield but a durable insert of 7mm film that is designed to work with the helmet face shield. This crystal clear film possesses exceptional anti-fog capacities. It is a patented material that is engineered to resist condensation and spontaneously sheets moisture away from its surface. Potent anti-fog properties literally shield against fog; this protection is lasting and does not erode.

What makes the Fog Shield better than other anti-fog products?

The fog shield is unique: because it is not a fluid, wax, spray or chemical, it does not require constant reapplication. It does not break down like unwieldy electrical devices, and is not excessively costly. It does not smear, wipe off, wear out, or have a toxic odor.

The Fog City Shield is scratch resistant and durable. When properly installed and maintained, the Shield retains the full strength of its fog-fighting properties indefinitely and can perform for the life of your face shield.

Richie,
I know!! I do miss the event, I went every year. I used to stop out in the evenings and have a few budweisers with the people I had met over the years. and no I didn't jump out of any perfectly good airplanes but liked to know I had the opportunity to do so at least once a year if I wanted to try it. Like we talked before, the event had its time here, its unfortunate that it had to go, but too many other factors were involved. If all the people that came here were like you, the situations that arrose would never have happened, but then again that would have taken a bit away from the event also. They are missed and several members of the Quincy community travel up north to where it is held now. Kind of sucks. a guy that has worked for me for the past several summers (whose family was extremely involved in the convention) has now graduated from flight school at SIU and I would have had the opportunity to go up with him almost anytime during the event. might go this year anyway. he invited me to go up with him. But now we have a Harley convention!!!!!! its only half as good as a Buell convention would have been tho . . .

The Boss has given me permission to go up to Waterloo for the Battletrax (and yes, I get to go play without her this time!) been wanting to try one. Anyone else????

We're thinking about going up to Iowa. Have to wait till it gets closer to know for sure.

If anyone else wants to jump out of airplanes, my parents jump pretty much every weekend, usually Greenville sometimes Vandalia.

Okay, let's kinda set aside April 26th...No way I want to miss actually seeing Keith RIDE!...

And Josh, I'll keep your parents in mind...I did that stuff back in my youth and have thought about doing it again so maybe one of these weekends when the weather is better I can get ahold of your dad and go with them...As with everything else, the equipment has changed drastically since I last jumped and I'd like to see it up close...Gee, I got John to river raft so do you think I can get him to jump?...

See Ya!

Bob,
There is a reason you never see me ride!!! Its because everytime we have ridden together I am watching your tailights disappear over the turn or hillside several blocks in front of me! just like that day I followed you along 92? or 94?(whatever highway that was) between hermann and STL. Bob's quote from the day. "thats just a beautiful ride, the scenery is really nice" I was thinking, "what a sweet bunch of curves, etc... how do you notice scenery a that speed??? :)

not trying to make excuses for not making it down there to ride more. I had set my mind last summer that I was going to try to go down and ride with you guys as much as possible. It just worked out that I couldn't because of other things we had going on. On several occasions I would have been able to except the additional 4 hours of travel I had to add would have conflicted with another event. :(
