I'm fairly new to the World of Buells. I recently purchased a 2007 Buell Lightning XB12S. I want to change the stock exhaust to a SLIP-ON EXHAUST TITANIUM RACE (Jardine Cam). A friend of mine suggested that I may need a buell race module (ECM). From the internet research I've been doing it seems these ECMs are for RACE USE ONLY. I have no intentions of racing my buell but would like that nice clean great sound along with the increased HP.

Basically, can you have one without the other or do you need both? Is there an ECM for street use only? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Tony

It is recommended to change the air filter, ECM and muffler at one time. There is plenty of information in the KV and the XBoard about all these things. And in www.ecmspy.com you'll find how to program the ECM for your muffler, or you can take it to a shop to be programmed, if there is one near where you live. Try the "Search" function on this web. There isn't any race "street use" ECM, but who will know what you have under the seat?
Congratulations for your purchase and welcome!
