And was wondering if anyone local wanted to meet and say hello. We'll be staying with the wife's friend in London the 17th and 18th. Then flying to Shannon the 19th and spending time on the west coast, with a night in the Arans, then driving back to Dublin the 25th or so. Would love to say hello if anyone can do it. Ryan |

in London Lucky!! I loved London when we were there in 2000. Have fun and take a rain coat/umbrella, as it rained everyday even if only for 30 minutes! |

Gugnheim, Hello,I'm in Hainault,NE of London. I'm arranging a UK Uly meeting around that sort of time but if it doesn't clash I may be able to meet up with you. I'll get back to you when a date gets set for sure. Where in London will you be visiting? Regards,Hoon. PS Ulywife, just out of interest, what were you up to and where in London when you were over here? (Message edited by hoon on October 28, 2007) |

I happened to hit London on my last trip for 6 consecutive days of sunshine! Vickie's office is on Saint James' Street and every morning she'd head to work and I'd head off on another adventure! Fun town! My cousin lives and works in London for two years and I just dropped him off (he was here for just the weekend_ at JFK headed back. He's moving into a larger flat next month and I'm threatening to go back! You'll have a blast! You'll find the British are much like the English. |

We were with my husband's family (15 in all) for an European Cruise. We only had 1 1/2 days in London before the cruise started. We made the most of it and saw all that we could on foot (after ditching the tour bus)...Big Ben, London Bridge, Tower of London, St. Pauls Cathederal and Harrods. That short time has me wanting to go back and spend about 2 weeks in London and have a chance to really experience it all. One day we'll return. As for the rain, our info was from the locals and proved true while we were in Europe. It was great and I wouldn't have traded it for anything. (Message edited by Ulywife on October 28, 2007) |

Thanks all. We'r estill putting the itinerary together. My wife's best girlfriend is and Irish girl who grew up splitting time between London and Ireland. She's got a place in Ilford. Nice spare bedroom and all. I cooked Thanksgiving there last year. Then we went out and caught the new Bond film..excpet for the sticker shock and the 40 minutes of commercials, it was cool to see a Bond flick there. I lived in Luxembourg for a while, and my wife London, so we get around there pretty well. Our honeymoon was Ireland, and if possible someday we want to ship the Uly there. I'm to be doing a lot of photo work, panoramics and black and whites, and even a couple stereo photos. Hoon: Arriving early the 17th at Gatwick and leaving early the 19th. |

No sh*t,Ilford! That's 4 miles from where I live. Couldn't be much closer if you're gonna be staying there. See how things pan out eh? |

Just thought I'd post a brief report on my meeting with Gugnheim. My girlfriend (Chantel) and I met up with Ryan and his wife Steph one Sunday a few weeks ago,I live just a few miles away from where they were staying so it was convienient for all of us. We met at pub called The Greyhound which used to be a 'Goth/Rock' venue which is now part of a large chain: (Gugn,I wanted to take you to a 'real honest proper pub' with cask ales really, but they're few and far between these days-next time maybe eh?) Mr Gugnheim had been out on the razz at a Motorhead gig the night before (lucky bugger) and I think was feeling it a bit,it was really good to meet him and his missus. The girls got on really well which left him and I to chat about each others backgrounds, work, bikes and suchlike. Limeys on the left,Yanks to the right: I like learning about the 'real' America, before I used the internet I had quite a blinkered view, mainly from Hollywoods portrayal of things probably,it was interesting to hear about where Ryan comes from and it would be great to visit the States one day (Ryan and Steph invited us over of course). So it was good to meet a fellow Bueller (best wishes for next years riding season btw) face to face,it still seems weird meeting someone in the flesh you've met from cyberspace-it's good this interweb thing! |
