I'm also glad you're ok. I've had a couple real close calls with deer before I was an ATGATT rider, and actually hit one once. It was 3 a.m. headed home and I with Ms. 'Right Now' and expecting to get lucky. A big white tail jumps out in front of the Electra Glide. I grab both brakes and the back end starts to come around. I have visions of sliding down the asphalt in my T shirt. She's screaming in my ear, and as I ease off the back brake, the bike snaps back into a straight line as the deer passes VERY close in front of me. I think I hear a noise like 'bing' but she's still screaming and I can't be sure. Well, we get to her house, and I realize the the right half of my crash bars is bent back so far that it's toast, and there's a little fur hanging on the floor board. I actually hit the ass end of that big deer and didn't go down more by dumb luck than skill. |

Yes, Kuuud, you got lucky with that "big deer ass". What about the other one ? (Message edited by Florida_lime on October 17, 2007) |

and expecting to get lucky I'd bet that after that, the deer was the only thing you "hit" that night. |

My dad just hit a little deer in TN about 3 weeks ago. Said he hit the ass with his headlight and legs with his front wheel. Too fast to react, said he didn't even notice it other than they flipping and flying through the air into the ditch and the hair left on his fender bumper. He was on a packed FLHTCUI. Makes me want to strap a couple bricks to the front on seasonal times like this. Hope that never happens to anyone again. Heal fast! |

Fs_bstrd, Man, you not right... I like it. Dentguy, Yea I know where you are talking about. I love 211 but didn't know it was called Thorton Gap. Interesting. I'm about 50 min North East from the Eastern side of the Thortons Gap. I go down there if I have some free time on a afternoon sometimes. You live in a great place for this area. Oh, 6pm... ouch, yep right when they decide to go for a walk across a road. A very scary place to be with one little dinky Uly light. I have those Sidi Vertigo Corsa Boots. They have that little extra skeleton on the outside. I was hoping you were NOT wearing those when your heal got torn up. (I'm trying to make myself feel better). Thanks for info. |

Bearly....Glad to hear you love the road also. It's great going over the mountain there on 211. Thats actually called the Thorton Gap entrance to Skyline Drive. My wife and I passed a orange Uly about 3 weeks ago on a Sunday that was on 522 heading away from 211 when we were going camping. Maybe that was you. The exhaust was not stock. I think thats the only orange Uly I have seen around here besides mine. I almost had a little extra skeleton on the outside like the boots. |
