I went to my local dealer this weekend and they had three Ulys. All three 06s. Two barely used and one brand new. It was hard to tell the used ones from the new ones they had so few miles on them. Around 2300 miles on one, I can't remember about the other one.

Anyway, it got me thinking (always dangerous and usually confusing) about which would be better, a brand new 08 (which they didn't have) or a barely used or even brand new 06 with money left over for mods. I know this has been discussed before, but I was so surprised to actually find a new 2 year old bike. They didn't have any a few weeks ago, so the new one must have come from another dealership. I'm still waiting to see a blue 08.

Tough call bro.

You can probable steal the '06 (I did.) Or just wait for the '08 and it's improvements.

I'm happy as hell with my '06, and if you'd ever want to check it out, or pick my brain, just shoot me a PM, and I'll meet you for coffee somewhere. I got a Drummer "Loud" pipe on it, and have the hard bags. To me, that's about all I needed. The bike is perfect.

Whats the price difference? When I was faced with the same dilemma I went new but the used one needed tires and had a tick I didn't like. Besides nothing like a brand spanking new motorcycle complete with warranty and if it's a new 06 the price should be right.

I'd say go with the 08 unless the 06 can be had for around $6,000-$7,000...there are enough upgrades with the 08 to make it worth the difference.

I looked... waited... phoned, etc., and finally found a black 08. Dealers had 06's and 07's on the floor and were generous with discounts, but the tweaks to the 08 justified my wait.

Get the 08 there is no amount of discounts that make it ok to have it in service when you should be riding.
