Hello All, I am about to repaint a S3 front fairing that I am putting on my 2000 M2 and I need to know how to tackle this correctly. I assume I should sand and prime and then apply multiple coats of color and clear. Sound good? | ||

I am about to paint my S3 fairing for my Molten orange 2k,m2.Called local PPG dealer,it`s a 3 stage color-45 dollars a pint-#91853(I guess times 3).If you have a small compressor and an HVLP gun(S).Give them a sample or a number and they`ll mix it up for you right there.Now I just have to practice with the gun on an old helmet.You also have to sand it down really well to 400 or 600.There are numerous books out there,"paint and body handbook"(any big book store will have them)is very good.I also raised the fairing spider about 2",cutting and welding just beyond the fork neck, and added a gustaffson 4" over windscreen;boy,what a difference on the freeway-no more buffeting around like one of those spring-necked dolls.Also you need a dust free environment that`s well ventilated and you need to set evderything up so you can do it in a timely fashion,while the paints still a little tacky,PPG can give you all that info.That`s about all I know at this point.A little knowledge can be a dangerous thing so you`ll have to verify all this stuff.I`m mainly suggesting sources here so Good luck |
