Looking to purchase a set of front and rear stands for my XB but most are geared toward metric bikes. The front stand isn't really a problem as I am sure most that use the pin through the lower tree will work but what of the rear stand? No place for those plastic things for the stand to hook onto? Wondering what list members are using and can recommend?

I use the "New Front Stand" with a #2 pin and an SS rear stand.

I'd STRONGLY recommend the Pit Bull also - and use the spool type lift on the rear.

The rubber thingys that are used to lift the bottom of the swingarm are not stable enough to work on the bike with any wiggling, they'll slide forward.

Skully makes the rear sliders that should work nicely. You CAN use the pitbull stand without the spool grabbers, just be very careful and watch the movement of the stand and you'll probably be OK. Barker's pic above shows exactly what I'm talking about - lifting from the spools/sliders and not from the bottom of the swingarm.

By the way - that sliding problem is the same for ANY brand of stand that lifts on the swingarm.

Not inexpensive but the Pitbull brand stands are high quality and work great with my XB9R swingarm.

www.pit-bull.com

There are several versions of rear stand- some are meant for non-spooled swingarms (factory standard), other are for those fitted with race spools, and there is a convertible stand that will work with both spooled and non-spooled alike.

I have a non-spooled version and the bike is solid on the stand. The stand is massive in construction and nicely finished. I doubt you would regret paying the $$ for it.

In my pic you can see that I am sporting the Dark Horse Moto slider/spool that Slaughter is talking about.

Some claim you need a "wide" rear pit bull.

I use the standard "SS" rear with no problems.

I got a big buddy to literally stand on mine and pull it open to spread it so it'd work (not kidding). I understand that there IS a wider Pit Bull.

I bought the T-Rex stands for my Aprilia, then sold the bike. The front will work on the Buell but I fail to see how the rear will! Mine came set up for spools and the Buell don't have 'em.
Does T-Rex offer a rear stand that works with the Buell swingarm?

Pit-Bull.

Made in the USA, all one piece and not bolted together. Just got mine last week- quality is beyond what I had expected.

Did I mention made in the USA?

Yea you can get the T-Rex with a spool and swing arm adapter. My t-rex stands have both for the rear stand and you just flip it over for spool or swing arm.

Go to the races and see what they use in the pits.

I am guessing you will not see many cheap, bolted together made in who knows where stands.

Cheap goes okay with pizza, beer and blondes. Not so with stands.

And Pit-Bull products are made in the USA.

Yes, I will stop now. And no, I do not work for Pit-Bull.

I think my front and rear pitbull stands are great. I have the forward handle rear stand that I use with the dark horse moto sliders, and the new front stand. I don't have experience using anything else, but I think they were definitely worth the money. I used the rear stand on my Ninja 250 with just the pads under the swingarm and can see how you'd want to use spools if you're able. Using the stand on my xb9r with the spools seems very stable. I'll have to use just the pads under the swingarm when I go to take the rear wheel off, of course, though. Make sure you buy either both the top supports for pads or spools or the combination top support that's in Barker's pic above.

the best stands are made by pitbull, but there are a lot of solid stands out there....and a lot of junk.

Don't cheap out on something that holds your bike in mid-air! there is no sound in the world like that of your bike hitting
hard pavement just as you start to walk away.
